Man imprisoned as a child rapist for 18 years. Think of that. 18 years, as the lowest of the low on the prison food chain. I can't begin to imagine what those guys did to him. I'd say $20,000 per year is too low for what happened to him. He lost some of the most important years of his life. Missed his child's entire childhood. Missed his entire young adulthood. Not to mention, he was probably the personal latrine for the other inmates for 18 years.

What I wonder is why they didn't test the evidence however many years ago when the police officer declared it evidence. Poor guy. If I was in his shoes, I'd still be very resentful after the whole ordeal, even with the compensation.

It should be like a 100,000 a year. Time is more pricelss than money especially youth. For that he should be able to do what ever he wants all expenses paid by the government. How unfair.

    Its really sad...
Our hearts should be with people like him.

As for the money, I would also say 100.000 per year at least.
But even though, no money could give him 1/3 of his life back, or his youth.

Article says, 20k/year is the most that he could get... he hasn't gotten a penny yet so far...

Well, this definitely is over the top in suckiness... I guess still better than those that we don't find out about to be innocent...

Nah, he should get should far more than that. Same thing happened to some guy here in NYC after I think about 25 years in prison, huge article spanning nearly a week on this guy catching up with society, odd thing is he said he wasn't going to ask for compensation.

and 20k a year is barely minimum wage i think.

I like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

It probably is minimum wage, thanks to all the bullshit bureaucracy in today's society, its probably not compensation for trauma, its probably based on minimum earnings lost due to incarceration.

Who wants to bet its taxed as well?
