If someone ever tried to mug me, rather than hand my wallet to them I'd probably chuck it on the ground, then kick them in the face as they bend down to get it. That's vigilante justice for you!

The first Death Wish movie generated a lot of debate on this issue. In that movie the guys family was brutally attacked and killed, the police were no help in bringing the guilty to justice, so the guy decided to hunt the criminals down and dispense his own justice. While the public may be sympathetic to the reasons behind why he does this, they are also uneasy with the idea of someone taking the law into their own hands and becoming judge, jury, and executioner before or after a crime has been committed. When the crime occurs is another matter because then the threat is immediate and it's reasonable for people to take action to defend themselves or their family under the circumstances. A person shouldn't use this as an excuse though and intentionally put themselves in harms way in order to protect others by baiting and killing criminals. Which is the direction that the later Death Wish movie sequals moved into.

Fantastic idea. If the mugger had half a brain, he'd pop you in the face as soon as you dropped it, then pick it up and make off with it.

Well I guess that's why I like living in Australia, where you don't have to worry about a guy waiting to shoot you in the face around every corner. At most, a mugger over here would have a pocket knife or a trolley pole. The Police here often give the advice that if you are being held up you should toss your wallet either on the ground or away from you, since the mugger is most likely more interested in your cash than you, and to use their distraction to make a getaway.

I took a karate class when I was younger and thier suggestion was that if the guy had a gun and was at a distence to toss it up at ahim and when he went to catch it run, but if they had a knife or was unarmmed to throw it at him and run up and deliver some pain...

I probably would still go for the runaway if he had a knife...

I understand where Steal is coming from. I think crime is on the rise in NYC. Today, I had some little sh*ts, try and test me. I just walked away, I wanted to kick the crap out them. However, I won't do anything to anyone. Until they try and touch me. Then, they crossed the line. Which would help me in the court of law.

I wouldn't have the balls to take justice into my own hands. I'm known for being a coward (aka pacifist...ish).
Are you happy? I am happy.

Well, I guess it's a good thing I live in North Carolina, where, instead of having to do all that, I can just shoot him with the gun I carry. Better yet, since most people near where I live carry guns, I can honestly say I haven't heard of a mugging in the last 8 years at least(I never paid attention before that)around here. It's just too risky for the criminals, considering they probably won't net $30 out of it. Lotta other crime, though, I guess(I guess the criminals have to pick of the slack somewhere, but I dunno).

How big is your town Jakko?

I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends
