Words can hurt, but only when organized to make a hurtful sentence (Example: Son you are a worthless child and noone including me has ever or will ever love you...) but work people consider to be vulgar (F word B word ect) don't really do anything alone...

Like abaile and vincent said used a lot and useing them just to use them is annoying and unneeded, but if your walking down the street and some guy rides by on his bike pushes you, spills your coffé and rides off then letting out a FU*K or a DA*N is fine...

@csuti: nice place you live in (oh I'm not being sarcastic ^^)

well most of the people who swear here are kids and they just use it for the sake of it. I'm guessing some of them doesn't even know what their saying.

I am of the honest opinion that expletives improve my vocabulary.

    It all down to perspective.
Its like the word "nig*er" (no offense anyone), its an incredibly offensive word to black people (I assume partly because of the insult, but mostly because of the history of racism and discrimination against black people); however I am lead to believe that when said among black people its not offensive (hollywood tells me so........).

From my perspective, if someone called me a cracker melanin deficient whitey, even if they meant it, I really couldn't give a shit, those words have no weight.

Matters what you are saying imo the only really bad curse words are racial slurs.

haha that's the thing. altho the people aren't really kids, but they don't even really know the meaning of the words anymore. all the curse words lost their meaning.

I think that within certain situations it's a bad idea to curse, Like a job or around little kids, but words don't really hurt people. Although people who curse too much are pretty annoying.

I think words hurt my feelings all the time, or rather we can call it the arrangement of ideas using words. A novel concept really.

Fuck that shit, I "curse" my ass of, I don't give a fuck. Words are words. As long as their not insulting (which the main ones aren't) then I don't really see the problem. Most of them are just things (ass, shit) or expletives to give words stronger weight (fuck etc). I'm on the fence with what 98 said as things like cracker or nigger are racial slurs and I don't count them as curse words, they're still profane but its a different side of one large umbrella. You call me a nigger vs a fucking nigger to me its the same thing... something worth kicking your ass over.

Well, I actually curse a lot, especially when I'm joking around... but I always feel the need to tone it down or just not use it at all. Iono, I find cursing to be weak when talking to someone, expecially when used while you're debating about something. It just seems like they have nothing else intelligent to say so they say it or just to get another word or two in majority of the time.

Words can definitely hurt people, especially in a case were the person saying it actually knows you very well and means it. So if words didn't hurt, there would be a lot less arguing and fighting obviously. Plus there's a lot of insecure and self conscious people that get hurt easily.
