Always when I'm home and up.
School/work/sleep = off.
Same as Spurgu.
Until one has given everything, one has given nothing.

^ same, I learned that while ago.
But If I'm out for a prolonged time, weekends trip whatever, I turn OFF and UNPLUG from the outlet. Even on OFF state, there is a 5volts running thru everything..
And Hibernate its not a viable solution as much of the software that I use, don't support this thing, better way to "conserve" energy would be, turning off the monitor, and the hard drive..

Hibernate can give you some head aches if you for example has an external HD, Keyboard and Mouse.
It’s unreliable at best. I've turn it off when I get a new notebook (to fix) frequently enough (i.e. it’s not going to sit on standby for days on end) I see no reason to use hibernation. Like I said, I’ve turned it off on every notebook I’ve used (mostly Dells) and never had a problem with the batteries as a result.

Batteries just eventually die. That's one sad truth, in the end they only last two to three years. On the other hand I turn of my moniter when ever i go to sleep, because there is no real reason to leave it on all the time, besides it bugs the shit out of me when it's on, and I'm sleeping.
I just turn it off whenever I'm going somewhere or sleeping.
