@ishman : are you sure this "large enough" reactor wouldn't cause a more than large enough mess in case of problem ? (not that the probability of a problem happening are high at all, but i would feel better if we used several smaller ones instead ^^)
There is also the big problem of carrying the electricity back to consumption points as the losses would be tremendous on large distance.


The satellites are a good idea, but wouldn't be enough if they were just outside of our atmosphere ? Not only would it be easier to send the energy back to earth, but it will also be WAY easier to maintain in case of dysfunction

It pretty much explains why the world is going down the gutter as we are typing away, we are all cowards or homosexuals.

I did a research project on this and yes we are frickin screwed. I really think we need to drill Alaska, but only to buy more time to get better energy technology. But yeah, the world is spinning down the drain right now.
