That is where the whole, "cowards and fools" things comes in. They have the ability, they just don't have the "fibre," the "stuff" in them to do it. But the choice is still there.

Or they were never taught to have any of those things. You are a product of your environment.

Yeah, but you just need to have one person on your side.

Oh no. The self motivated/determined one was my mommy who somehow balanced 3 jobs to pay for her own college tuition and still get a nice premed degree from good old Columbia.

My daddy... well. He was more of a party animal, motorcycling maniac, and nearly suspended on 4 different occasions. ^_~

The point was... you can still somehow beat the odds and make something out of yourself. Not everything is predetermined based on what social class you're born into. If it was, I would definitely NOT be chatting on the internet.

lol don't get me wrong i believe that the social barriers that some are condemned to can be broken and overcome, but it is hard when you don't have someone backing you up. all i say is congrats to both your parents coolpuprocks.

I had two friends named Richie and Eric, their mom was a coke head. She sent outside to play everyday. These guys hung with my family. If they really needed it, we would have taken them in. They chose to hang in the streets. They are now in and out of jail. Some people can't be saved.

You aways do.. but its aways up to you.

Have you seen what a "favela" is? There is no word in english to describe it, luckly I did had to live there, but my uncle did.

He have 3 sons, He lived on that hell on earth for 7 years, until he managed to get a descent job to get a house.. the conditions of his house aren't pristine, he doesn't have much.. but he is working for it.
Never giving in to the 'easy' gank/thiefery or anything.. He aways worked towards his dream job (Being into the marine)

So no matter were you grew up yes you do have a choice, but you need preserverance to keep that choice.

I didn't grew up on a great neigbourhood..
There was our local drug dealer and pimp and prostitutes, all about 100feet from my house. The school was about 1mile -.-

From my group of friends, each with their own problem..
Divorced parents, rich that got poor, really poor that managed to get up.

I think we were 12 total..
1 ended up as a drug addict..
and 1 smokes here and there, but not to the point to sell anything he can gets his hands on.

The rest? All clean~ I'm one of thoses, heck I'm in the USA!
Most are working honest pay jobs, some even got their own places.

Point, environment doesn't necessarily make a bad person..
Its easier I say.. but if you want to have a choice, you WILL have a choice.

    What projects CPR?

PS. Alot of this discussion goes back to my Intelligence thread.

I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends
