Wow, that sounds pretty awesome. It would probably get funding if they found some way to make a super soldier chimera.
Next you know, they'll say that transmuation circles actually work, and that we can all become alchemists and work on the philosophers stone because science has found out how to make that too.

the article reminds me a bit of a recent series i read, actually (fire candy). would be interesting to see some half-human, half-other-animal creature, but i doubt that they'd be able to fuse two highly different species together (human/birds)

What would you take from the Human and add from the bird?

The reason birds can fly is their hollow bones. If you gave a human that skeletal build, it collapse under the weight of it's muscles.

I wonder if we could create orcs, you know? Like it has the shape of a human, but it's so disfigured. Then we can try to make some hobbits, elves, and dwarves, and then the 19 rings with the one ring to rule them all.

OR maybe a huamniod octopus and humaniod fish creatures, we could give them a pirate ship and, yeah, thats all I have lol.

that's why i said extremely different species probably won't be able to fuse. it'd be cool if humans had chameleon skin though - ability to blend in with background. i think a tail would be really useful too - it'd be like an extra arm to use.

About the rest of the article, weren't they trying to do this with mammoth a while back? Seeing as mammoth DNA+elephant egg is about the only thing that could a viable creature for study.

I think I remember something about the cromosome count in different species being different and that would cause something like this to not work...

Who knows though mabey they found a way around this...

I'm also wondering about YIFF, but I'm gonna avoid 4-chan for obvious reasons...

Chimeras like on FMA would be pretty bitchin' but cause problems...
