Well, I was reading my e-mails today and I got one from my school that pretty much said they couldn't find another Japanese teacher to teach intermediate level so the same teacher I had last year is going to teach this year.
woot woot!
Next year will be an awesome perverted class. ^_~
And that's when, I remembered I used to do these Japanese lessons...
so, I scanned my book and found something vaguely funny..

Oh those wily Japanese and their kanji wackiness. I'm a big fan of the kanji
家内 which is pronounced kanai, and the kanji's which make it up mean house plus inside. What does it mean? My Wife.
Oh if only English had built in sexism naturally in our fair language.

@cpr: you could also add simple characters like mountain or river. when I first saw them I remembered them easily :D
Alexian, i think that means "inside the house" rather then "my wife"
the first one means family or home, the second one means inside so inside the house.

No, he's right. It means "wife". I gave that example in another one of these threads, but without the pics. If you were going to say "inside the house", you'd say "ie no naka ni" - 家の中に - or else "indoors" would be 屋内
The kanji for wife literallly means "inside the house", while the kanji for husband literally means "lord/master" ( 主人 ). Only these days, to be a little more PC, there's alternate terms. But yep, good old sexism is alive and well in the kanji!
(oh, and here's "father" for people to play with: 父 )
