Thread: Am I the only guy addicted to full tower?

I don't have anything wrong with my computer(well, actually I do, but I won't get into it), so I felt this kind of thread would be best here.

I admit it. I look down on mid-towers. Me, I want space, size, to do whatever I want without worrying about if it will fit, or the heat from all those parts so close together.

First, it was the Thermaltake Armor(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133155 ). Now, I am eying that new Silverstone TJ-09(http://www.thetechlounge.com/article...ullTower+Case/ and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811163035 ). Man, does that thing look good, but it costs an arm and a leg. I am also starting to get more into "quiet" components. I would rather have a quiet PC, than an insanely overclocked one(well, I still want it overclocked some).


So, fellow nerds? What is it you prefer? Full tower? Mid tower? Any nancy-boy Mini Tower or Desktop guys out there? Any fringe BTX mavericks?

P.S. - Also awful partial to silver over black, and would get that kind of temjin 09 instead of the black one I showed. Also looking into fan insulating rests, insulated screws, and hd mounting systems( a la http://www.frozencpu.com/index.html ). Anything y'all looking into?

I don't even know what a mid tower is, I just buy the cheapest box I can fit everything into. IMO the tower is unimportant, what matters is what's inside it.

Ehhh, in the short run, maybe. I want a case I can use for years. Something well made, with great cooling setups and acoustics. I want something qualilty, that will last, to hold my stuff. I think it saves money in the long run to get something like this, than to get subpar cases.

Its like shotguns. Sure, you can get a Rimchester and go hunting, but everyone knows that for shotguns, you always stick with the 3 B's(Beretta, Benelli, and Browning) if you want a great experience. Quality, I am saying, quality.

That is what I though as well when I got the armor. It looks cool. Problem is, those hinges do nothing, the front part is plastic, the tool-less stuff, while easy, I don't trust, and the set-up and overall quality seems a bit...shoddy. Still a good case, but nothing special. The silverstone, on the otherhand, is a work of art(http://www.silverstonetek.com/produc...j09_photo.html).

Do you know how to weld? Then you could make one of your own.

I wanted to have that cool Black case that most DJ uses.
and on top of that I've always wanted to installed water cooling kit for my PC.

Nope, don't know any wielding. Yeah, I saw a wood case once, and there is a lego case floating around the internet. I just wouldn't trust myself to make one as quality in its worksmanship and design(airflow and placement for heat dispersal) as much as I would dedicated engineers that know what they are doing.

Well, what kind of PC do you have? Mid tower(standard size computer case), desktop(tiny little thing), or full size(gigantic, should be used for a server case)?

I don't see how you could compare a shotgun to a tower, one is a mechanical instrument that must survive stress and wear and tear and still perform acurately, the other is an inanimate box that holds stuff.
I can see your point about cooling, but for most people its irrelevent. As for weight, colour, shape, style and to some extent material, thay are all superfluous. Duralbility is also a moot point, if you need a case that has durability, then you are obviously not taking care of your computer.
