I don't believe in miracles, but that is definately EXTREMELY lucky. I guess that if the nerves in the spine remain relatively undamaged, the person will survive the injury. Very lucky, very lucky indeed.

They should have used better reinforcing than locking the head onto the spine.
Seriously, just slice the spinal cord connection, anchor the skull to the collar bone and rib cage, then re-attach the spinal cord by wiring the broken parts, [Yes, we can do this with current day tech, spinal damage is just that, large scale destruction of the spinal cord and neuron damage, not a simple and clean slice that can be junctured] and after that's been done, anchor the skull such that the bone, muscles, and disks will heal.
Oh! and speaking of neurons, and such, the brain is actually far more resilient than it often appears to be. It's just that because of it's structure, when, say, you take a hit to the side of your head, the two halves of the brain smash together. This does not in fact do any real damage to the neurons, it's the stretching of neural connections as the brain moves around inside your skull, and this 'bruises' the neurons, causing them to basically kill themselves through necrosis.

Wow... That's amazing that she survived... I'm suprised that her spine wasn't broken much less that she survived after being internally decapitated.
