Well, that depends, things like Trigonometric Identities are really easy to forget, if you do not have to use them regularly; yet, things like basic Arithmetics can be easily remembered.

PS: Just for the record, my previous reply was a joke. I did not intend to offend/annoy any British member.

Heh I know; I'm at Manchester. As for them being easier, I'm not too sure. Granted I haven't seen any from back when my parents were at school, but from what I can gather they know their shit better than a lot of my friends and such, yet got worse results. For example, I know a girl who thought the Pope was a jew because he 'wore a jew hat', and she managed to get a C for G.C.S.E science when she put, and I quote, 'ask the fairies' for a question she didn't know.

I'm in the same boat as Vincent and Shautieh too, I somehow managed to get an A for A-level maths and now I can hardly remember anything except SohCahToa.

    -_-

    Most maths are incredibly stupid.

Frankly, they don't give you the framework to understand how math works, and to decipher and create your own formulas, algorithms, etc.

For example, if your going into engineering, the math there is so fucking complicated, for designing tolerances, testing loading paths of forces along four-dimensional geometries [The geometry of the structure is the three dimensional part, the composition is the fourth dimension, at least, that's how I interpret it, since it makes more sense to me conceptually] and so on.

There is absolutely no fucking way they can teach that stuff other than in specilazed classes that prepare you for the on-the-job training you'll get.

And jesus feck, if you look at the crap pure mathmeticians do...

._. That is all that can be said of that kind of math, and there is not a college in the world that teaches that kind of math.

So, most of that is completely moot.

... Unfortunately, the same can not be said of the american educational system, which is still based around teaching farmers kids the little bit of general level knowledge that they'd need.

However, that's today's current system, which does not adequetly fullfill needs, unlike then, where it was amazingly well-suited. It's actually pretty shocking when you realize that people who wheren't in abject poverty, or raised as the children of slaves or such, where far, far more educated than a person of similar age nowadays.

I think most of what we learn (or have learned in some cases) in high school is relatively useless. They should teach us things that we may actually use in life, such as how to win in a bar fight. Or how to light people's hair on fire from forty feet away. Or how to get laid.
Are you happy? I am happy.
