Birds

You know how you are walking down the street and there are a bunch of birds (in this case, pigeons) just loitering around and peeking the ground or whatever. Then suddenly, without any warning, they all just take off (towards you) and it looks as they will hit you (because they are flying really low) but they never really do?

Well yesterday my friend and I were walking down the street to get to our next class, and we were just chatting, minding our own business. Then there were this huge flock of birds there and they started to take off. You always get this reflex to kind of duck a bit as they do this, which was a good thing this time, because one of the birds actually collided into my friend. Fortunately for him, he got his arm up in time to protect himself, or else that stupid fucking bird would have hit him in the head.

Anyways, the bird was flapping its wings like mad, as if it was trying to break through my friend's arm. The bird finally figured it out and realized that if it wanted to get by, he/she would have to go around my friend's arm, which it did, and then flew off into the distance. This all happened within like 3s, all the while my friend was screaming. It was hiliarious to watch, but I was also kind of startled by it. I think my friend will be emotionally scarred for life.

Has anyone else experienced or observed a similar situation?

No.

I, however, would make fun of my friend untill the universe is a frozen husk, laughing the entire time.

ahahaha...damn crazy bird. I've had experiences like that in my car, where a bird is flying low and it's like "OMFG, GO UP"...and fortunately it's never hit my car, but i've heard stories where birds have gone straight into windshields...ahaha.

I happen have a ton of bird stories.

We were walking the hills at night, and a blackbird starts bomb diving me. I start running and of course fell. It was rangeland full of cow patties. LOL
But I've also been attacked by a blackbird while walking the dog on teh sidewalk. It's not uncommon for them to attack people near their nests.

Those pigeons are pests. I pegged one once with a can--an impulsive instinctual thing. Bird was fine but my vegetarian friend happend to have saw it. I couldn't help but laugh my butt off.

But have you ever seen one hit by a car? My coworker tagged a small bird and it like exploded! When I saw it in the side view mirror it was like *poof* a ball of feathers. For some reason it was hysterical, maybe cuz it was a long trip, and my coworker thinking I'm nuts didn't help. But I do like birds, just sometimes they can be birdbrained.

nope, but my friend got pooped on while at the park once.

ah birds, my fav type of animal. nope, can't say i've had such an experience before.

^then hopefully they'll be extinct too. always pooping on cars...*shaking fist*

Once I was biking and I saw this other guy get hit by a bird. It was hilarious.

Bird. Have the instinct to fly south(or which ever direction they are supposed to fly to during winters) but can fly past a mere obstacle in their path. Maybe it has something to do with cars and people not being part of the natural enviroment.
