Thread: TOS for free manga download sites

im not even sure if this is on the right section, but i need some suggestion from you all, especially ST admins and moderators.

me and a few buddies really want to make free manga download site just like stoptazmo. not a big one but i hope it gets bigger in the future but i'm afraid of the copyright laws in the US. We all know that the manga serie of naruto has been licensed like long time ago in the US, but i can still see it in most manga sites free to download. Since I live in the US and i'm going to pay for hosting server in the US, am i going to have a problem if i let people download naruto from my sites?

stoptazmo seems to host lots of series that are licensed but you guys seems ok. is there something that i really should know to make a manga fansite?

Manga hosting is a vicious game. Cowards need not apply. I've seen people hung for such offenses, only noble outlaws like Kane which are willing to take risks for the good of humanity can prevail.

actually i thought it was because the servers hosting the manga is not in the u.s. and because of this it is completely legal as long as in the country the server is in that has the manga is not liscenced. though there are several people that are hosting manga in u.s. servers you just have to try not to get caught.

so do u know any good hosting outside US?

I recall dgemu hosts their stuff in Israel. Whatever servers they use are pretty good, but then they probably pay jillions for it since they have such high traffic.

Why not use the same servers as The Pirate Bay(or at least in the same country)? You can get away with just about anything there...

Isn't The Pirate Bay trying to buy out the micronation of SeaLand so that they can just run their own servers and ignore everyone?

Yeah, but I was thinking that you can pretty much get away with anything in the Netherlands and Sweden...
