somthin like that would never happen here in america, a lot of major companies would lose billions, and it wouldnt take nearly as much for them to buy off the people who have the power to change the law. i can dream though....

    gorgeous, talented, fabulous?"
Actually, who are you not to be?

Meh.... Piracy is legal in South America (at least where I live); that, or the ones that are supossed to enforce the law do not care about it (yet, they enjoy it).

well...ive been to the philipines(im filipino) and over there piracy is accepted. im not sure if its legal or not, but no one seems to care, especialy since the fake ones are 1/16 the price of the original down there.

    ...
Who the hell said piracy costs media company's?

Every single study has shown that media sharing increases profits.

Except for studys paid and manipulated by such great folks as the RIAA.
But we all know those are bullshit.

well....i would find it hard to make money on movies for example if everyone started to buy bootlegs of the movies on the street.same goes for music....the music industry must lose a lot of money because of p2p programs like limewire, morpheos, etc.then theres torents, and whole bunch of other stuff. i dont see how record labels, artists, paramount, pixar, etc are not loseing money......................or am i missing somthin and im retarded?

I don't see much changes in our lives. Piracy is still illegal in most cases but still - no one will abide to this rule.

i don't really think it will affect our lives. if they make filesharing legal than i think that it just affect how we obtain things from the media. i mean no more buying movies from stores but just getting it from a friend.

For many underground bands p2p is how they gain fans. p2p is a result of better technology. Why should anyone still buy CDs at $20 with 18 songs by the same person, when they only want the one track? That's why you can buy songs online. The more people that buy songs online the cheaper the prices will become. There's monthly subscriptions so you can download unlimited amounts of music. These are good things resulting from what the music industry considers illegal.

For many people like myself, if music wasn't free then I wouldn't buy it anyways, or I would rip it from a friend. So the industry wouldn't be losing money because of me. Too bad that doesn't apply to everyone.
