muahahah ish, what did you expect? XD
Perfect hanul ^_^
And actually, for any mutations, basically think of anything that's actually possible. [No psychic powers, we really have no idea whether they exist or not] For example, an improved bone structure. The virus has recoded your dna such that the little bacterium inside your bones start reinforcing them with a carbon nanotube lattice. You don't know any changes have happened though, untill you find yourself cornered. There's some lumbering flesh monster coming for you, and you've managed to get yourself stuck some on the sheer sided roof of a building/steep cliff. You make a dodge when the monster attacks, but it mangages to smash you off the cliff [or whatever] and you fall, to what you presume is your death.
However, after waking from the mild concusion you recieved, [You decelerated abrubtly at something like 700Gs, smashing your brain into your skull] you find that your not a shattered doll of flesh, and that you've only skinned off the flesh and muscle on your left hand, and you notice that the asphalt [rock/whatever] you landed on is shattered.
While limping off to find some first-aid, you ponder over the odity of having survived such a fall, and wonder what other accelerated evoloution your going to undergo.[25 is non-lethal, with only broken to shattered bones, 30+ is 20% probability of survival, with 50+ being 99% fatal]
That kinda thing. Scour the internets if you'd like.
Here's some more ideas to get you kicking, your cells start to absorb rare metals from the environment, plating your synapses with a secondary system, increasing your reaction speeds from that of simply biological to quite superhuman. [Of course, that's mearly the speed with which you can send signals, to actually move in acordance with your new reaction times, would make your movements hypersonic, far, far in excess of what our current bio-systems are capable of surviving]
Or, say, your threaded with a network of a hyper-magnets, [Toroidal CNTs are 1000 times stronger than any magnet of their size should be, for example] and by thought, you can now manipulate magnetic fields to create and capture blades of plasma, or even manipulate the plasma. Or anything else really. Of course, in consquence of this modification, your metabolism has been accelerated by nearly a hundred fold, and you now require actual electrical energy, along with nutrients. To counter-balance this increased metabolism, you can extract energy from your environment [You can think of yourself as reminiscent [sp] of a walking EMP field, absorbing electrical energy from batterys and capable of disrupting any unshielded and active electronics] and you also only need to eat to get nutrients, as with the electrical energy you gather from the environment, you store it in chemical reactions within your body by building advanced and highly energy dense compounds
Is this like the official StopTazmo RPG now?
So I think that I would get an enhanced nervous system which would be good and bad. I would have an decreased reaction time but the amount of pain I would feel would probably increase. So with mutated eyes I would try to avoid getting hit by anticipating their moves and acting accordingly.
Is that the kind of thing you wanted?
Hrrm... I was intending this to just be a "What would you do" thing, but hell yes.
I haven't played a bar-esque game in years.
Hell yes, this is the new official RPG.
Aye, it is. Try going into more detail though.
Here's some reasearch links for ya.
Er... Can't find one on neural speeds though. [Damn you lack of scholarly articles!]
I, of course, slept through the pandemic in a state of apathy. I awakened to a new world. I began to wander the empty streets, enjoying the strangely calming silence. Naturally, I decided to procur weapons for myself. The door to the gun shop was locked, so I attempted to force it...only to realize my strength has drastically increased, and I was able to bend metal with little effort. After arming myself, I grabbed a car from a nearby dealership and made a sweep of the city, looking for survivors. I plan to create a group of followers and take over what little remains of civilization.
The world will be mine.
[cue: evil laughter]
(just so you know, if you read, my character isn't infected so he won't have any of those special powers.)
I was alone, but alive. And thanfuly uninjured. I had walked a few miles away from that ruined compound of the damned when I was attacked by some sort of mutated creature that looked like a german shepard. I had no weapons with me, so I did the next best thing. I ran like hell. The dog nearly chased me down if I did not run into an empty shack and slam the door shut on the dog, bashing it's skull with the door.
That was when I looked around and noticed it wasn't a shack... It was an munitions dump...and it was full of wonderful weapons.
(Hey i'm gonna sort of loop our stories together pretty soon, so if you get involved don't complain and just rp it)
Until one has given everything, one has given nothing.
I would be on an 8 hour drive to my old hometown, to visit relatives when the pandemic hits. The road to my old hometown is pretty desolate after driving for a while, and the snowstorm of the century would hit me while halfway to my destination. I usually take with me alot of fish and stuff when driving up north to my relatives, so I would have plenty of sustenance for when I'm stuck halfway, with no means to escape until it blows by. We also keep a primus (http://www.bruun.no/Turutstyr/primus_powercook.gif) in our car for when we go fishing. And I always got an extra tank of petrol in the car when I go on trips like that. All that should keep me going until the snowstorm blows off, but by then, all the gas would probably be used up, and I would have to walk on foot to the nearest settlement (which probably is the norwegian-finnish border).
Upon arriving to the border, I discover a tollpost. Phones are out of order, no cars with enough petrol to reach anywhere. Fortunately, theres a storage full of war rations and water can be acquired by melting snow. I stay there a few weeks/months(however long the virus needs to become non-lethal) while trying to contact the outside world.
Eventually, a person wanting to escape from something would come by the tollpost, speaking finnish, which I don't understand. I spot a few hungry wolves chasing him, and they start attacking us. I manage to get us both in the tollpost, but not before getting bit in the arm by one of them.Nursing him back to health(which I would fail at) I discover he's infected by a unknown virus, but not lethal by now. He dies because of the exhausting trek of his to this very tollpost, and several wounds acquired along the way. By now, the wolves have given up on trying to get us.
Needless to say, I contract this virus, collapse on the floor and experience a painful change in my body.
edit: I have decided to change my "powers". :P
When I wake up, I find the windows to the tollpost are broken, and snow is pouring in. Strangely enough, I don't feel cold at all. I get a shovel and bury the dead body of the other man. Afterwards I try to get a fire started in the oven, fetching a bit of wood for the fire. I accidentally manage to place my arm on the oven, scalding hot as it is. As strange as the experience with the snow not being cold, I feel absolutely no pain at all from the heat. Infact, my body seems more energized from touching the oven.

I was working and testing a new thing on human at an underground base for Stoptazmo Corp. Thing's started to go bad, the human experiments weren't going as planned and everyone started to show signs of disease. In fear i closed the project down, and locked then underground lab down. To ensure nothing was to escape, I used nuclear fumes to kill everything in there. In 2 weeks time, i returned to make sure everything was killed, and from the security cameras everything was killed. As i started to open up the lab again, a team of 5 specially trained men and myself were to make sure everything was clear. As we opened the first door we were savagely attacked. The 5 men fought and killed the two beast waiting there for us. As i took a look at them, i soon realized that the disease mutated with the nuclear fumes, changing the human experiments. As we entered deeper into the research lab, I noticed many of the human experiments died from the reactions on the virus mutation. The few that survived and were killed, I also noticed seemed to have strange mutations among them. The first two were more beast like, genetically altered. Their teeth were fang like, they were on all four. In fear, i ran into my lab with the men and grabbed all the documents that had all the information on the thing we were developing, and also the type of nuclear fumes that were used to try and destroy all the things in the lab. As we were leaving, we found out that the emergency locks were damage by some unknown creature. We tried out best to lock down the lab manually, but we all knew that we have unleashed hell upon earth.
Quickly afterwards, a few scientist and myself included tried to find a cure as fast as possible. We kidnapped people off the streets before the virus started to spread and tested our subjects, unknowing if we had found the real cure. Before we knew it, the virus was hitting our town and we left in horror to find a new place to develop the cure.
I'd survive the pandemic by luck alone. Some sort of genetic thing that I don't understand at all causes my initial reaction to the virus to be much less severe than for most. The disease did affect me, however, before it struck most people. I was confined to my bed for a few days with fairly intense flu-like symptoms. I watched out my window as the passers-by on the street one day stopped walking past, as my family stopped coming up to my room to visit me. Two days after the main bulk of the casualties took place, I walked downstairs to find the bodies of people I had known my entire life huddled together in emaciated heaps throughout town.
I'm shocked. I can't bring myself to understand what I've seen, and so I go back home. I sit in my living room for several hours, curled up on the sofa trying to work things out. I turn on the TV; most channels are static. One is showing what appears to be a Gilligan's Island marathon, on a schedule that's been playing automatically for days. I watch for a few minutes, then continue flipping through. I finally reach what I've been looking for; a news broadcast. It isn't the usual anchorman; rather, it is a gangly-looking young man who identifies himself as the network's devilery boy. He isn't sure if anyone if left to watch this broadcast. He explains what the situation is anyway, interspersing little fragments of his own life. When he breaks down and begins crying in the middle of a story about how he'd found his girlfriend's body, I turn off the TV and walk outside, staring blankly at the empty buildings around me as reality slowly sinks in.
I crack my knuckles anxiously; a nervous reaction, it is something I have done without noticing from a very young age. For this reason, it is several moments before I realize that I've pushed my fingers far beyond the point they should naturally reach. It takes me a few seconds more to realize that I've probably just broken my own fingers.
But I haven't. Strangely, miraculously, I can straighten out my fingers just by uncurling my twisted fist. I blink, and push them back to where they had been. I pull them back. I shake my head, thinking. Slowly, I begin to pull my index finger backwards. It moves easily, touching together with the back of my hand. I feel no pain. I pull it back in place, and wiggle my fingers. I have total control over them...
I think for a few moments more. If my fingers can now move like this, what else can? I lean backwards. I don't feel any resistance; I'm not all that surprised when I realize that the back of my head is touching my calves. I straighten up.
I look down the deserted streets, frightened. Surely a dream, I think.
I walk down the empty avenue, shaking my head and trying desperately to convince myself that it is, in fact, 'only a dream'.
Why So Green And Lonely? We Are Accidents Waiting To Happen.
So would it be a wrong assumption that the mutations in some way alter your bone structure in a good or bad way also? like developing in such a manner that it helps or harms in an many possible ways. Like obviously improving the bone structure to stand such muscle alterations or something like, you could use such strength but for short periods of time cause the bones would wear down still from exerting such force.
or the development of other internal/external organs or growths that help maintain your body is such ways.... or i dunno something of the sort.
sorry =p just a question =p
I believe the brain acts as a limiter anyways so wouldn't it process how much strength you could use so that your body doesnt infact break down? cause isn't it like 20% of a humans strength is used and thats it.
