Thread: Sometimes the law can be wrong

I haven't been on here so much lately, if anybody noticed. I've been working longer hours and applying for higher-paying jobs (well, the best a 17 y/o can do). The reason behind this is that I am being sued.

Not too long ago I arrived at a 4-way stop sign. I stopped (duh), I was the only car currently at the stop sign so it was my turn. When I made my turn I heard the loud sound of someone slamming on their brakes behind me. I checked my rear and saw the car responsible make its way part-way down a ditch.

When I rolled my window down to see if they were okay, I heard one of them say "I'm going to kill that white boy." I instinctively put the pedal to the floor. At the time I was at an end of town I'm not normally in, I didn't know the roads too well and simply made the first turn I could. Apparently they tailed me and the turn I took was the wrong one. It soon became a dead-end and I was surrounded by four angry men.

In a panic, I told them that I worked at Pizza Hut, so as to imply that I have no money. Though they didn't file a police report and there were no witnesses to this accident, they are attempting to sue me.

They are lying about the road we were on and are trying to pin me with "failure to yeild". When in truth, they didn't even stop for the sign. I don't think it's fair that their account holds any weight. It's bias, I tell you. There was no police report filed. I shouldn't lose...right?

sue you for what? the car accident? fuck that shit they should have no case if they have no proof.

It's a "he said she said" case. Though, you are at a disadvantage if there's 4 of them. Is there any damage on either side?

Yeah...damage to their car. Not mine.

I should have just pretended like I had never seen them before, in retrospect. There's nothing proving I had anything to do with it.

But still, 4v1.

Not trying to be pessimistic, but the fact that you ran away (despite probably having good reasons to do so) may be a big problem. It makes you look guilty.

I guess that all you can do is to tell your version of the story, and see what happens. It may be 4 vs 1, but none has evidence. So, you're supposed to be innocent, until proven otherwise, I guess.

yeah, the biggest thing was that you left, but in all honesty there was a reason why you did so. As like everyone said, its a "he said, she said" type thing. Hopefully everything should be dismissed, but like previously stated its a 4v1, which can be used in ur advantage cuz if either one of them has their stories a little different from one another then it hurts them. Fucked up tho man, i hate ppl who do stuff like that too.

is it from you hitting them? Or is it like you stopped unexpected and they slammed into your car?

there was no car collision from what i interpreted. They got their damage from going into the ditch.

dam, only if you were in CA, people who rear end others are always at fualt, which i guess is both good and bad. but technically you shouldnt have ran, makes you look bad, and if they got out of the car and you knew they were going to attack you id run too. i wouldnt have told them anything though, and im not sure but it sounds like you got out of your car? if that happened thats a bad idea too, if you had a cell phone you should have called the cops during and after it happened.

are you sure that they didnt file a police report and that there were no witnesses? cause if they didnt and there wasnt any witnesses you've got this won. though, they do have 4 people who would testify against you since they were in the car, maybe fake an injury too if it wasnt too long ago? besides, i dont think they are going to claim that you reversed on them, sounds like you could win.

Hmm if your car is damaged in the back and their in the front it`s a clear case. They hit you. Either they didn`t keep the safety distance and hit you when you stopped or hit you when you were allready standing. At least a semi normal judge should be able to see that. Plus if he hit the ditch there should still be some evidence of the car crashing there. Too bad you didn`t call the cops yeah, i presume they weren`t completely sober either...
