Being wait listed?
or
out-right rejection.
Is it better to have an ounce of hope to get something you REALLY want? Or is it better to get that crushing blow so now you know how to prepare for the future?
Waitlisted with an ounce of hope to get it.
Flat out rejection.

Wait list - I believe in that tiny little chance. :3 If I got a wait-list response, I'd know I failed and would go for something else anyway - but it's never worth giving up! I've actually heard of examples where people far down on a waiting list got in to a school or event or whatever, after all.

wait what are we talking about ? relationships or entrance exams ? =\
anything, though neither is the reason for me making this thread. =P
rather wait because there MIGHT be a chance. I'de feel rejected and there would be no way for me to get it but at least there's a chance.

Well... depends on the situation.
I'd say a little of both.
If it was about relationships... I don't think there's such thing as needing a crushing blow. There's always a chance for anything.
I like simple yes or no answers "maybe" was thought up by losers and there fore is used by losers.
