    Fate.
Because my slew of bad luck cannot be explained with random chance.

Fate. I'm not that lucky and life doesn't seem to change when I try to change it.

I say there is a mixture of fate and chance/probability leaning more towards chance/probability. Your actions will pave the path of your life, not some unknown being, but some things in your life you have no control over, like where you were born, how you were raised, the kind of people and who you are exposed to and stuff like that.

i'm guessing you mean that "having outcomes influenced by your own conscious choices = probability" ? in that case, i think it's a combination of destiny and probability.

i mean, where we start out, many of the people we meet, the places we see... stuff like that, we can't really influence. so fate/destiny would play a part in that.

but i do believe that our own choices would make a difference, or else, there wouldn't really be a reason to live ? something like that.

so like, life gives us a bunch of predetermined choices every step of the way, and we get to choose which way to go.

Doesn't really matter since considering the constants that are present no matter what their underling drive is, and this can be summed up as: "I'm currently alive and I'm going to die sometime in the future."

And without evidence of fate there's no reason to worry about, according to relativity, what you can't "see" really can't hurt you.

And even if there is a set of rules that presents more constants to my life (in addition to death), then there's still not much reason to worry about since I can't change it.

Still voted for random chance tho.
    Mind you,
If there is a possibility that several things can go wrong, then the one that will cause the greatest damage will be the one to go wrong.
If anything absolutely can NOT go wrong, it will anyway.
If you perceive that there are four possible ways in which a procedure can go wrong and circumvent these, then a fifth way, unprepared for, will promptly develop.

    I'm unsure.

I've thought about it many times, mostly in religious context, except, I call it "Pre-destination vs. Free Will."

Okay so I actually read what the topic was about.

I don't really believe in fate/destiny. Why do we worry about our grades, our future, our life, if it's all planned out for us anyway. It would mean that no matter what I did, I would end up the same way.
For example, if my fate was to become a well known leader of some peace group, then even if I dropped out of school, joined some gang, went around causing disaster, or graduated with straight As, got into a great college, then got a well paying job, either way I would end up being that said leader. If my fate was to become a homeless woman at age 30, blinded in an eye and missing a leg, then even if I graduated with said good grades and went to said good college followed by geting a well paying job, I would become that homeless.
Now of course you could go support that by saying that if I my fate was to become the leader of the peace group, then it would also be my fate to graduate. In the same way, if I were to become the homeless, then my fate would become the school dorp-out gang member.

I still don't think life's that easy. I believe that with every step I take, ever breath I breath, and every thought I think, I'm changing my possible future. Because nothing is set, I have to reach my goals by working for them. If my life was already desided for me, then I wouldn't bother doing anything about it. My fate would take me though it. But because it's not so, I have to make my own desisions, step my own steps, and chose my own paths to take.
And because I believe this is so, when I achieve something, I can proudly say, "I wave worked hard to be here."

Luck.. I don't know what to make of that. For such a long time I thought I just ran out of luck. Seemed like the whole world was out there to make my life miserable. Even if I did my best, things were sure to turn out horribly wrong. And of course when I thought it coudn't get any worse, it sure as hell did. But things changed, and I feel like my life did a huge flip in the past few months. Call it fate or luck? I don't know. All I can say is that I don't think I could be any happier.
Although I havn't actually worked to gain it, nor do I truely deserve it, but I feel gready and have no intention of saying "I'm sorry I have to return this; I don't have any right to possess this happiness."

Personally I'm shocked that so many ppl believe in "fate." =\ I cant stand the fact that ppl believe they can't really do much about anything. If anything you are the one controlling your fate. If you want to achieve something, go do it, work for it, prove everyone and everything, including fate, wrong. I believe you just limit yourself when you call it "fate." It's just like labeling ppl. It sets them into a certain limit or degree, which is completely false.

Sure there are a very few limited things you can't control, but the most things i believe are within your own hands.
