Err.. I didn't lock it or ban him cause I was interested in the answer too. XD
Dang, those salaries are low. I know non-famous people who make more than that. =/
They should just move to America and write tv-sitcoms. Those pay in the millions. =D

I think its a labour of love.
^ it is seriously. You seriously have to love what you are doing in able to keep doing it. I'm sure most ppl lose their motivation to keep doing it, and realize that it's not for them while trying to achieve a successful manga.
Another thing is the fans send them stuff. The loyalty to the fans could be another thing that keeps them going.
That reminds me of the writer of Rurouni Kenshin. In his manga profiles his writing makes it seem like his fans stand behind him with whips in case he does something to a character they don't like. ^_^
But, i heard mangaka's life is fierce... They sleep seldomly and chased by deadline all the time. And the salary is low ( something i just know ). It's a wonder they keep up with their jobs..
LONG LIVE HIME-SAMA. MY LIFE FOR RUMBLANDIA!
I don't wonder, if you love doing something then you'd do it, regardless of the hard work and money. I think doing something you enjoy is much more important that the money earned doing something. Otherwise there would be no manga or comics to buy. We'd all be lawyers and docters or some crap.
Don't get me wrong, money is important in the world we live in, but it's hardly something that decides your lifelong career (or to be more accurate, the career you want).
