The most ive stayed up would probably be around 35-40 hours. I could probably stay up a second night but I didn't really want to try since I absolutely hate being tired =p.

I've gone about 48 hours without sleep before. I must have drank like twenty espressos...espressoes....esperessos...expressos.. .epilipsy inducing drinks.
    There we go.

mm, went up to 3 days without sleep. one of my more horrible university experiences. there was an article once on this guy that went a week without sleep, and kept a journal about it. apparently near the end of that ordeal, your mind just starts shutting down for a few minutes at a time. pretty much telling you to get the hell back to bed.

I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

    That's not possible.

No matter how efficiently you train your brain's vascomuscular system, [Damn, I forget the correct term] it cannot possibly shunt off all the toxins that it builds up during conscious activity. Not even bothering to mention that it is completely unable to repair itself from the rigors of conscious thought. [Your brain is constantly damaging itself while your thinking, only during the deepest phases of sleep can it maximize it's repair abilities]

Note though: The brain CAN be trained to go straight to it's deepest sleep phase, bypassing everything else. This allows a person who has trained their brain to go by for only one hour of sleep at most a day, for the rest of their life. However, it requires extreme training to do so, you would have to stay awake for an estimated two weeks, then have someone you trust constantly wake you after 30 minutes for up to a month. The only record of someone having accomplished this feat since the likes of Jefferson is a person who was sentenced to a few years in prison for petty thievery. He decided to turn his life around, and after having done some research performed the previously stated act. He then attained something like 4 majors inside of a single year after getting out. VERY recent.

I still don't understand why you'd WANT to go without sleep that long... beds are wonderful, warm, comfy, soft, happy things... sleep is good... honest...

*not fully congnitive.. finally crashing after having programed nearly all night long, I'm a weakling but I need at least a little sleep*

    Sleep is your friend....

Couldnt it be that the guy without sleep for more than 30 years, is a mutant who has an enzyme which takes care of the intoxication problems in his brain?
I hate to sleep, but well I already noticed that when I slept for 16 hours in one night, or even longer, it feels like my IQ just got raised by like 50 -.-, so people remember: sleep enough.

Agreeing with SWM... The most I've ever gone without sleep is about 20 hours...
And imagine never sleeping... No dreaming. I love my dreams. They're completely mad and surreal.
