    Default Soft Drinks

    Do soft drinks have a direct corelation with obesity?

    While you may not think it, this is actually a quite controversial topic. In america, most "studies" have shown that those who consume larger amounts of soft drinks are far more inclined to be fatasses.

    However, children/kids/teenagers in third world countries often consume soft drinks containing massively higher concentrations of sugars And I don't see anyone calling them obese.

    Note: More often than not, American drinks contain high fructose corn syrup rather than cane sugar.

    Discuss.

    I have to say that soft drinks are not directly correlated to obesity. All I drink is coca cola, orange juice and coffee (and the occasional energy drink). My general diet outside of that is rather healthy and for the last few years I have kept my weight at 135 pounds with a height of 6" 1.

    Then again who knows, maybe my metabolism runs at a high pace.

    That's really really really skinny. I'm a full 5 inches shorter and weigh the same amount and I myself am already pretty thin.

    pop i believe does have some correlation to weight imo, but not one that is a direct correlation.

    It's obvious that there's a correlation. That's like saying "Hmm, I wonder if all of that candy could be making those kids gain weight...".

    I don't drink soft drinks, actually. I think they taste terrible.

    I dont think soda contributes to gaining weight. I think its bad for your health and teeth, but its just sugar. Sugar wont make you fat, just hyperactive and itll make your tongue go numb. Fats and cholesterol lead to obesity not sugar. Drinking soda won't help though if you drink it with every meal, like everything moderation is key.

    Probably but it's not like people who abstain from them don't get obese...

    I have one like once a week.
