Default Stop watching Porn! Guy imprisoned for 200years!

But he was living in Arizona when he was caught with thousands of images of child abuse on his computer.

    Stark differences

The state has the nation's toughest laws on child abuse and exploitation.

Indeed, the prosecutor had asked for a 340-year sentence but the trial judge imposed the minimum of 10 years for each of 20 images - to be served consecutively for a total of 200 years without the possibility of probation, early release or pardon.

Mr Berger's lawyers asked the Supreme Court to hear an appeal.

They argued the sentence was wildly disproportionate - much longer than that for rape or even second degree murder and claimed it amounted to cruel and unusual punishment.

The state of Arizona argued each image of child abuse was a separate crime so the sentences had to run consecutively.

The Supreme Court refused to hear the appeal and gave no reason but the case has highlighted stark differences in sentencing policy across the US.
Wow. 200 years! 10 years for each 20 pictures?!?!

    Now that's friggin ridiculous!

I don't see anything wrong with the sentence in and of itself (nothing wrong with 200 years for subsiding child abuse), but I some how doubt that that's how the law's supposed to be carried out.

I think the moral of this story is not stop watching porn but don't get caught with child porn.

thats messed up imo. Thats so dumb, with rape or murder, you screw up someone's life forever (or kill them) and with just those pictures he just messes up his own life, but he gets more jail for having those pictures. Stupid.

But somebody else messed up those children's lives in the first place Duece. I've never heard of child porn that came from consenting children.

well he didnt do it tho. Get the guys who did it, he just enjoys it too. I mean by all means prosecute him....but it's ridiculous that he's having to serve so much time for JUST possessing pictures.

Well if people buy it they are just encouraging people to continue producing the stuff. They're just trying to make an example of the guy.

Hell throw in jail is what I say, but 200 years is abit much... abit? Hell that's the stupidest shit I heard 5 to 50 maybe(however you see it) but 200? Not even fucking people sitting on death row would find that justifying.
