This is really cool and i thought i should share it with you
a french man (i think) has made this jet pack that allows him to fly when dropped from a plane i just thought that this was really awesome,( i mean its a jet-pack i dont know if we have these yet but this is the first one i've seen) enjoy
oh and if anyone can translate feel free to
Babelfished it, it actually makes a certain amount of sense, romantic languages are all at least a bit alike I guess:
2006: a rival for Batman Obsessed by the myth of Icare the men tried to fly like the birds; failing to reach that point, of the pioneers flying machines built in which they were locked up to control them. Mû by the desire to always be a bird the man developed, these last decades, of the apparatuses enabling him to fly while benefitting from the ascending currents as in the hang glider and parapente, or gliding flight going down with winged combinations or small rigid wings on the back. However nobody is not unaware of that since 1939, human could really fly while springing and while moving in the airs at will: its name is BATMAN hero of comic strips whose creator is Bob Kane. Today, Batman can leave its page of paper and the movie screens to fly over the Alps Suisses, thanks to Yves Rossy who carried out the great dream of Léonard De Vinci. In the line of its many predecessors flying men, this Switzerland impassioned of flight since always, after having flown on Mirage III with the army, then as commander on Airbus, not only designed and developed wings which enable him to fly, but it also built them and tested during these seven last years. Finally since the last autumn, the dream became reality thanks to four mini-engines assembled under its wings, which propel it to more than 200 km/h to the attack of the tops. During the flight, the body of Yves becomes that of a bird, and except a handle of the gazs, it does not control its wing, but truly STEALS it, thanks to some light movements of its body, just like do it the birds. And like Batman, when it flies beside planes which accompany it, when it puts the gazs, the latter can only look at it disappearing in the azure... The main thing is made, but there remain some stages to be crossed until takeoff, the lifting figures, the vertical rises and the participation in the next air demonstrations. Yves is not not very proud to have arrived only and with the assistance of his friends, with this decisive goal that everyone judged unrealistic. For the next stages, it will need partners and support, which should not miss, taking into account the interest and of the enormous potential of the project.
The logical continuation after the success of the wings on the back to plane better and better, and to carry out the secret dream to fly like "Superman" or "Rocketeer", it was of course to motorize the wing, to try to become the first "flying man with reaction"!
Already at the end of 2002, Yves had contacted the German company "Jet-Cat", leader world of the manufacturers of engines for the scale models of aeroplane, and had made them share of its intention to mount turbines on its wings. For still improving its performance, the aerodynamics of the wing was improved and its scale was increased with 3 meters. And due to lack of rigidity to the inflatable structure, Yves left Prospective Concepts and flies since the beginning of 2004 of his own wings, built out of carbon by "ACT Composites" in Geneva, and are foldable, for always being usable since a small plane (Pilatus Porter). And finally on June 24, 2004 with 19h30 with the third flight of the day, (sixième flight motorized) Yves leaves the footboard of Pilatus to 4000 meters with the top of the aerodrome of Yverdon, fall a few seconds before drawing the small lever from opening from its wings to leave in gliding flight; 2500 mètres/sol, always in planed, it starte the sequence of starting of its two engines, awaits about thirty seconds until their stabilization and can finally "put the gazs" to increase the push... and there it is the dream! Level flight, with 1600 mètres/sol, in patrol with Pilatus, during nearly 4 minutes with 180 Km/h!

That was really cool, but the entire time I was thinking, how long can he fly based on how much fuel he has, and how much I thought the military could use this to drop grenades on the enemy during war...
I want one ...
I like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
"However nobody is not unaware"
"Yves is not not very proud"
This kind of technology has been around for a long time actually. The US government spent a considerable amount of time on this stuff in (I'm pretty sure it was the) 60's. It was meant for military use, but proved to not quite be long lived enough to be worth it for some missions.
in my opinion it aint a jet pack its just a crappy glider i mean u need a parchute to land. A jet pack is suposed to take off and land on its own and be able to be in the air as long as it has fuel
It may be clished but "Rome wasn't built in a day"

this really does sound like a glider with an engine though
