but... love is giving someone the power to destroy you, but trusting them not to.
very very true (i skipped to the last page too and read this last page).

from my experience and listening to other people's experiences/ beliefs(not including religion) there are the obvious differences between like and love, but its really easy to discribe "like" rather than discribing love since love is almost like a belief in itself.
the word "like" is a watered down version of love. liking something might sway your decision a little bit, but love can ruin your whole life, or more like your belief in love can. love can be confused with manipulation at times since a person might not even notice that they are doing it. love brings all types of feeling, some that are familiar and some that are new and those feelings are so hard to understand because love can cause a person to believe in something when they really dont. the word "love" in general is also used to express your deepest respect and kindness to another purely. but then people tend to want to feel good all the time, so they could try to please their partner to make themself feel good. like you guys know that feeling when you do something good for another person without expecting something in return, its so great you wish it would last a while longer and you probably tell people about what you just did for that person. so its almost like you use the other person for self pleasure, to make yourself feel good about yourself. but you have to know where the line is between the two things, manipulation or love. do you do the things you do because you love them or want to feel good about yourself? not saying thats what love is ALL about, but at times it can feel that way, and at times it can be confused since love has so many meanings to it. and yeah love should always go both ways equally though sometimes one person loves the other person more than the other.

on last thing, if you like something/someone you might fight for it/him/her, but if you love something/someone you would die for it/him/her.

i'd put it this way. If you like someone, you'd fight for them. If you loved someone, you would kill for them.

I would assume that it's just some cliche phrase that nobody ever bothered to put in a published piece of work and claim it as his or her own.
At first I was severely dissapointed in you. But upon searching for myself (ugh), I came to the same conclusion as you. Apparently the originator is unknown. Heh.

Maybe it's cliche, but I still thinks it's a nice way of describing it.

nyway, I'll throw a random question at ya'll:
do you think it's possible to like, and possibly love, a person you've never actually met face to face?

    Ofcourse it's possible.

That depends on the person, methinks.

i guess as long as you've talked to them online or something and they arent pedophiles im assuming. well actually, to like them maybe, and thats a really iffy maybe...but love i'd probably say no. reasons: as stated in my first sentence. but there's always a chance i guess, its just sort of hard to trust someone when you dont even know what they look like

Like, yes. Love, kind of. The biggest flaw of not seeing a person is that you really dont get to see the little things that the other person does. Meaning the good and bad. For example, you dont know if the person has a bad habit of leaving their clothes on the floor (myself...ahaha) or if they dont put the cap back on top of the tooth paste container...etc. That's the no part.

The yes part....you know the person pretty well. You know how they speak, the mood they speak in, etc. You have great communication, why is one of the major components of a relationship. You both appreciate each other that much more, since you both know what it's like to be apart from each other. Being apart, it gives you more time to think, instead of always being caught up in the "lovey dovey" mood, which always causes you to think and act different.

so yeap, thats all of what i can think of rite now.
