Okay guys, back on topic.
I don't think whether it's a matter of spanking being illegal so much as what happens and how people define "spanking".
When does innocent spanking cross over the line into beating? I think this law would be impossible to enforce, as each case would be different from the rest.

If you can't enforce it it doesn't matter if the law is passed anyways.

I still think that it's better that the child learns through having things taken away - if you do something bad, you can't do everything you want. I don't want to have kids experience pain, and I don't want kids to grow up flinching at everything they do in case it causes pain.

i grew up with my dad spanking me and my sister (we were'nt allowed to cry >< so hard to hold it in (if we cried we got hit even more)) with his had or a roled up newspaper(really does hurt(brute force...i think)) for miss behaving or not doing our work >< now im so paranoid about getting in trouble even with little things but now its he doesnt do that because we're too old to get hit...my friends still get hit for small things like looking like thier father or not doing a bit of house work >< i just realise how lucky i am....now that i remember my friends cousin (his 16) i did something really bad (i think he jigged school for 2 weeks><forgot) and he got hit by electric lamp(it was on) now he's litterally scared on his back>< but i do agree with spanking...a little bit...just not enough to scar the child
