Philip K. Dick and Neal Stephenson are two of my faves. I like the Ender and Bean books by Card, but not a big fan of his other stuff.
I mostly read Sci-Fi and fantasy so....
If you like comic books, and not just manga, Alan Moore's stuff is worth a read. (Though Frank Miller and Neil Gaiman are my favorites.)
Sci-fi...fantasy...blech. Not for me.
One major exception, though. Stephen King's Dark Tower series is incredible.
The Dark Tower series is really the only stuff of his I like. The ending kinda sucks though.
1984 was.. less than good. I think a few people should expend valuable time reading 1985, which I found far more appealing.
Brave New World was excellent in many ways, but I found the plot to be far more shoddily done than the dystopia he was creating. (In short, read the beginning and the end and skip the middle).
I never finished The Dark Tower. I read 5/6 books and decided if I had to deal with anymore of his strange writing style I'd murder a child, prefferably his. The whole thing dragged on for far too long.
