^ No, not Mary Shelly’s version at least.
But a name wouldn't have changed anything, he didn't really seem to care about that. His strongest emotion would probably be schadenfreude (that and depression, he was definitely emo), partially because he has so few opportunities to experience it.
Maybe the name itsself wouldn't have changed anything, but possibly the meaning behind actually having one would have made him less emo. He just needed someone to feel compassion for him and introduce the love into his heart that he would have been willing to accept.

^ Yeah, he was planning on that (having Dr. Frankenstein build a female "monster"), but the idea of creating someone else who would (logically) be as miserable (or at the very least as deformed and hated) as you are so that you can have a somewhat equal relationship is just wrong.
And self-immolation is never the right choice, though I guess cutting himself wouldn't have really worked, and if I were in the arctic burning myself might not seem like that bad of an idea.
Nah a name wouldn't have helped, not in the era it was set in. Consider for a second the Phantom of the opera, he had a name and was still treated as a freak for part of his life. It was more how everyone treated him, including his creator who abandoned him, that drove him to becoming a monster rather than lack of a name. If Frankenstein had treated him better from the start perhaps there could have been a difference in how he turned out.

but at the end of the book the captain asks who the monster is and he says......i am nobody, i have no name......... maybe he felt more rejected because he never had a name?

button you're not to touch.
Nah the monster was never named, it's a mistake some people make to call him Frankenstein. I think the nobody comment was due to the death of his creator, without him there he truly felt that his existence no longer mattered which was why he commited suicide afterwards as I remember.
