    beforehand let me note that i know this movie is probably not the kind of thing you expect to see discussed on a manga based forum...

    just saw it... and im... unsurprised, given the quality of the cast, the script, the everything i was completely unsurprised. dont get me wrong its gonna win everything because it was beyond amazing, i dont even like musicals and i certainly am no huge fan of 60's disco .... but i know for damn sure it was the best movie of last year, worth the $25 pre release cost at the very least. Jennifer Hudson is now able to put her proverbial foot in Simon Cowells ass if he ever comments negatively on her again (she was a contestant on American Idol) Beyonce was just... Beyonce, shes damn good as is. Jamie and Eddie kicked ass and did what they do best. who knew Eddie Murphy could sing like that ... O_o

    four fucking stars.

    I saw the trailers, and it looked like complete trash. Quite a few people on RottenTomatoes seem to agree that it's highly overrated...I'm not going to see it.

    The Departed, on the other hand, along with Children of Men...those two are great.

    Sorry dude.

    It seems to me that whenever a musical comes out, as long as it doesn't completely suck, it's up for about 20 Oscars. On the other hand, for a regular movie, it has to be spectacular to get recognition (exception: Crash).

    Crash was great, got it on DVD too.

    Crash was a decent movie. It got far more recognition than it deserved, though. Munich and Kingdom of Heaven: Director's Cut (which didn't actually come out until 2006, I know) were by far the best films of 2005. Munich should have won Best Picture.

    And don't even get me started on Brokeback Mountain.
