Are this actual donations or paid accounts as in NarutofanPlus? Either way, it would be scam. In case of donations, if he sets a value to reach, said value must be the one the site needs, asking for more is seeking to make profit. In the case of paid accounts, it is the same as in NarutofanPlus, charging for others work, while that people releases it for free.

I understand the idea of trying to make some business out of this, but it is the proper thing to do to advise the ones lending you the money, that you're seeking to make profit. No doing so, it's scam.

Still, I really don't know about the values, but if they are indeed accurate, then that guy's business would be obvious.

Hmm, interesting to see how easy it is to check and calculate/evaluate the total server costs ^^

I say it's scam, because they lied about their expenses

Even if he's just trying to turn a profit, it's still wrong, because what he's selling is scanlations. He didn't make them, nor did he ask for permission to profit off of them.

But it could be argued that he is making a profit off of the service he is providing. I.e. providing a place for people who are too stupid to know where to get it for free (e.g. the scanners and subbers or a torrent site).

It could be argued that, however, the arguement in and of itself is a logical fallacy.

Yes, this person is scamming, because he is lying to the people donating to him about his actual costs. Presumably he is pocketing the extra money rather than putting it in a reserve to pay for his servers in case he gets less donations than he needs in a month, which seems unlikely with the amount he is OVER-STATING his costs.

People like him are lacking in their own moral standards.

Lol. There front page is funny:

    HAHAHAHA!

People who steal credit cards don't donate money on em. They go to the bank and cash $2,500 as fast as they can from as many banks as possible before the credit card gets canceled. [2,500 is the limit someone can take out at a time without requiring things like signatures and stuff].

I know that cause it's happened to my friend. =(

    ................

Though, I know nothing about networking, I can tell that story on the front page is definitely a fake.

Thus, I vote, MUST be a scam! =D

It could be that some ADHD kid liked the site and stole his/her parents credit card and used it to donate loads of money thinking he/she was doing the right thing.
An old friend of mine (with ADHD) stole his mom's credit card once to buy (I think they were N64 games).
EDIT: It didn't work out for him, the shop keeper obviously knew that the card didn't belong to him, and he (my friend) didn't realize that a signature was required. He still got grounded though. This was before things could be bought easily online.

Why the hell would the donation goal raise if someone donated money that has been stolen? wtf?! how is that going to help with anything? o_O

and yeah, instead of lying their profits, they should honestly say they want profit and put the rest of the goal for service or something.
