I think this thread will be calmer than the last thread that wished people a happy Muslim holiday. I'm pretty sure abaile learned his lesson.
Can you explain Eid? I'm afraid I'm not as familiar with Muslim holidays as I'd like to be.
Happy chanukah/hanukkah! Yeah, I know I'm late. Screw you too.
Well Eid translates into "festval".
The first one Eid ul Fitar is to celebrste the end of Ramadan.
The one that happend today is Eid ul Adha which celebtates the story of Ibrahem or Aberahem the father is Ismail(both are prophats).
Ibrahem's story:
NOTE: Ibrahem was born when people still worshiped idols.
He preached islam and was shunned by his village.
Ibrahem, belived that anything you make with your own hands cant be worshiped as a god. So one day he took an ax, broke all the idols in town but the largest one which he left the ax in his hands. So in the morn when they all woke up to worship they were outraged they saw the ax and asked him what happend. So he told them the idol did it, they said but they are made of clay and can not move. So he told them to ask the idols, they said they are hard and never made tounges for them. So he asked them how they can worship something that can neither move nor speak and was made by your own hands? They got all pissed and started making a fire to burn him, but for some reason the fire would not start the wind would blow to hard and things kept getting in the way, but once it started they threw him in, but Ibrahem being a prohphat, God asked the fire to feel as a cool breeze. Ibrahem was not burnt and .... to make a longer story shorter thhey converted.
Story #2:
Mini version: Ibrahem had a son named Ismail also prophat, god wanted to test them both to see their loyalty. So he told Ibrahem to sacrafise his son who was 11 at the time, Ibrahem was all i dont know what to do, when ismail asked what was wrong, when he found out he said if God will's it then you must. So along the way to do it satan tries to pursude him not to do it, they dont listen and 1 second before the ax hits an angel stops them. Says a whol bunch o stuff and thats it.
P.S. Ibrahem & Ismail also built the Kabba and started Mecca.

Hey, can you explain something to me? I live in an area that had(and still has) very strong imigration from middle-east, and thus know lots of arabs and arab-descendants. If arabs had all that amazing mathemathical skill how come all the arabs and arab descendants I know fail miserably at maths and physics? Seriously, this is a serious question, I was discussing this with my guitar teacher a couple weeks ago.
My family (exept me) is amazing at math.
The thing is where they grew up. Diffrent places have diffrent learning standards.
I hate my Abrab ancestors for coming up with Algebra.

I wish a Happy Eid ul-Adha to all the followers of Islam. Have a good time, with the ones important for you.
As-Salamu Alaykum.
PS: This holiday, besides what already was explained, also marks the end of the Hajj (Pilgrimage to Mecca).
That's quite interesting, thanks.
