I didn't see this commercial on TV, it's hilarious.

I would've just picked the kid up and held him until he got a grip (either with both arms outstretched or carting him around under one if needed). Never give them what they want when they ask for it like that. My kid wouldn't be getting the candy ever and wouldn't be getting out of the store until I was good and done my shopping.

Actually I might have tried to let him think it was still in the cart then put it back later somehow. Let him throw his tantrum at home instead of in the store.

It's that or start telling him what's getting taken away when you get home. (I'd cut my kid off from sweets for quuuuite a while for that display.)

i'd like to know why the boy spoke french though, while the rest of the video was in english, especially if it was an american commercial

It wasn't an American comercial originally.
It was subtitled and used on American TV IIRC.
