How do you think the world will end?

just curious. can be from a religous or a scientific perspective or even an ethica one. you can interpret the question as when Earth ends or when the human race goes extinct... whichever.

i think that the world as we know it will end in the next 500 years. i think the human race will survive but things will be so radically different. i think earth will probably be a wasteland and we will have colonized the moon and mars and those will be the centers of the population. i guess we will probably be our own undoing as something massively important will be invented or discovered that will lead us further from home and earth will be discarded and left to the environmentalists to sentimental to leave. i dont think we'll ever leave the solar system nor will we find intelligent life elsewhere. i unno ill think more on it as this could get long.

I'll say some more serious stuff, NOT that this was not serious, later, when I see other people's ideas too.

War. That how the world is going to end. I don't know when, but it will be about countries egos.

For the universe I would guess that eventually heat death would occur.


For the Earth I would assume that life would cease to exist naturally because of the aging of the sun, barring some cosmic event that would destroy all life before that happens. I doubt that humans can be coordinated enough to kill everything at once, enough people would die that we would no longer have the capability to use weapons of mass destruction.


As for other intelligent life I don't really see that happening either, it's arguable that intelligence doesn't even offer a solid survival advantage. Alien life probably does exist though, especially if the definition of life is very loose (an organized aggregate of matter that can reproduce with modifications).

War, were gonna end up with a nuclear war sooner or later. Plus, if some people are correct, then Jesus will be coming back very soon.
Either war or chaos, humans are bound to either have one or the other.
Though theres always other possibilities. Either way, I'm probably gonna be on the frontlines to help establish something that'll probably speed it up.

Earth will more than likely end by getting hit by a huge ass meteor, but by then life on earth will should be gone already. If earth isnt hit by a huge ass meteor, then in time the sun will swallow it up.

We have enough weapons to destroy the earth, not to mention those big bang experiments under Switzerland that could wipe out the whole universe(I think it was either universe, galaxy, either that or our solar system, or planet) if it malfunctioned.

^ You really think everyone will die in a nuclear winter though?

The most generous predictions would still mean only a couple of years in the dark, right?



As for Jesus coming back, the entire point of religious prophecies isn't that they're supposed to be used as guides for human lives, they're basically there to prove that some god was correct in stating that some event will occur. Most of them are applicable to any time period or place, if they aren't then they would lack a purpose; why tell people that a specific event is going to happen thousands of year in the future? It would fail to exert any sort of control over the behavior of the intervening generations.



*edit: As for the particle accelerator, wouldn't it reproducing a big bang event mean that it functioned correctly?
I'm not too worried about that though, if it did happen no one would know about it, and a big bang itself is only a theoretical event, it hasn't really been witnessed. Although there is evidence that one occurred, we don't really know how it happened so I doubt that we can reproduce it that easily.
I wouldn't mind the world ending like though, it would be funny, and at the very least the universe gets a re-roll.

NASA has a map of every object within lightyears of here and its current trajectory and the chances of it hitting earth AND the amount of time it would take to get here... the last thing to come close was a couple years ago when Armageddon and Deep Impact came out. the asteroid missed by hundreds thousands of miles and nothings coming close for thousands of years.

1) Rapture. All Christians and those who haven not reached "age of accountability" vanish from the face of the earth.

2) The beast will emerge to restore order. There will be one world economy, one world government, and one world religion.

3) First 3.5 years after the rapture would be peaceful.

4) After that, there will be 3.5 years of hardship. BAD STUFF! LOTS OF EM!

Probably lots of war, famine, natural disasters. Oh, and you can't buy anything without the marking of the beast on your hand or forehead. This mark will probably be an electronic barcode or microchip of some sort.
