Well nowaday's I can't afford it because I'm an impoverished student. And before you roll you eyes! I, as in me myself, am paying for all my fee's etc so nyer. Plus from what I gather its bloody expensive business, like I'd have to rent out all the equipment, rent a pass or whatever you do get allowed on le slopes, get to these bloody snowcapped mountains, pay for somewhere to stay and for food... Not to mention paying for the lessons.. :'( And it would have been even more unfeasible to have gone before I went to uni. So unless I become a rent-boy, that is why I can't afford it.

I remember seeing my stepmom (who is a complete novice, or was at the time), get off a chair lift and ski into all the idiots who like to crowd the lift exit (seriously, those people are just as annoying as people who stand in doorways DX), she took down about 7 or 8 people because she couldn't stop or turn and they fell down due to a domino effect. Of course as a snowboarder I turned away off to the side, so I got the perfect view. XD

I never said one was better than the other (hell, I wish I could ski, infact when I go on holiday in Febuary, I probably borrow my brother's boots and skis and have a go, I can't see much difference between skiing an rollerblading), I was just trying to reveal the truth behind the stereotypes.

I once heard someone say that snowboarding is easy to learn but hard to master, and I agree.

i heard that its supposed to be easier to start snowboarding if you allready knew how to ski before, but not vice versa

I've been skiing since I was...somewhere in the three to five range. Not very well then, of course, but I started. My family used to go every year, but we've kind of been slacking lately, so it's been a couple of years since I've gone.

I started learning to snow board. I've only taken two lessons, so I still kind of suck...but I can go straight! And I can turn one way, but not the other!

I agree that snowboarding is easier to start with, at least in terms of the difficulty of runs you can go on. (Taking a beginner skiier down even a slightly steep hill is probably a bad idea...) Turning is hard stuff, though. Not to mention the T-lifts. I had to hike all the way up a beginner run once, because I could not use that thing to get up. Chair lifts are okay, but not those things.
