Thread: about shopping sales

just out of curiuosity, which season or part of the year do you think has the biggest and greatest sale for shopping in clothes, shoes, electronics, furniture, etc? some people would say the biggest sale is after christmas, toward the end of the year cause all the christmas presents have been brought. others would say during thanksgiving, because are preparing for new stocks of products for christmas sales. others say during july 4th. what do u think?

I've braved Boxing Day sales before, but it's a frightening thing.

What I usually do is pick out what I want, and then watch for it specifically to go on sale. It's not like store-wide sales happen often, and there are always items that are not on sale, no matter what they claim. Also, not all stores have their best sales at the same time of year, so it depends on what, exactly, you're looking for. Not to mention that the same holidays aren't celebrated everywhere, and not always at the same time if they are (like Thanksgiving, in the U.S. and Canada).

Also, second hand stores are always a good place to look.

Edit - And don't forget to ask for deals! Especially if you're buying more than one thing, or a big-ticket item. I know I've been surprised by what stores are willing to offer to make a sale in the past.

My friend's wife went to a New Year's sale (I think) and fell down an escalator. As a guy I don't care as much about things like holiday sales. However my friend is camping out in front of Target tonight to get a Wii.

The campers outside Best Buy on Friday were sad.

And some got mugged at night for their money. Others were mugged as they walked out the stores with their PS3. Suckers.

Day after Christmas = SALE SALE SALE!

That's when the most gift exchanges occurs. It's crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

i would guess the 2 biggest are day before christmas and day after christmas

before for all the people that forgot and want to heavy celebrate christmas
after for all the people that realize that they will probably save a few hundred bucks if they wait a day

honestly for a second there i thought it was gonna be talamare... my throat feels weird...


oh and Black Friday is gonna be the worst day of the year, that and Christamas Eve...

My mom and I son't like shopping at all. It is a chore for us to actually go shopping and the worst days were Christmas SAles. In some stores, clothes were everywhere and boxes were open. It gave me a headache..
