It's a secret conspiracy that only girls know about. Some of them just infiltrated the ranks of men and pretended to be guys. Of course, some of those girls are really guys... it's so hard to tell these days.

Thats a pretty decent site. I'm honestly appalled at the lack of respect men (read: boys) often have towards women on the internet.

Actually, when you think about it. Having a gender on the web really doesn't matter. Unless, you are one of those people who.. ah *cough*

Play games.. Kill some people.. Scream "you're pwned and I'm a girl" for maxed humiliation! Being a *fake* girl has it's advantages. Well in games.. And those other *fake* girls.. I feel sorry for their victims.

Well, when it comes to communities, it kinda does matter. There is a difference between guys and girls - not like race or whatever - and it feels weird to be called a gender that you're not. I know I feel bad every time I incorrectly state someone's gender ("he"/"she") so I try not to. It's a small thing, but one that really counts - and especially if you're female in a part of the internet considered to be or actually is dominated by males.

(Have you ever tried going onto #lurk and saying you're female, for instance?)

(...for the record, the fact that I suck at Counterstrike and FPS games has nothing to do with gender. >_>)

It's because women/girls are idolized in porn for these dudes so they can't imagine that such hotties could talk to them because in there brains the only thing that constitutes girl are those pictures that make them feel good.

I try to avoid most communities. For lots of reasons. And no. Never been to #lurk.
But the whole male/female thing is a huge paranoia amoung web users. When I first came to the W.W.W I saw lot of videos made about guys acting like girls. And then some guy catching his room mate pretending to be a girl.

It's a comman thing I faced every where there was a place to chat. And most online games. Everyone is a guy, girls are myths. So I got used to being a *guy* on the web. So for me. It's no big deal. Others, I can understand.

    EDIT

I couldn't care less if a girl was on the internet honestly, once you get a gf your a lot more mature, the problem with those guys is they never had a gf or had a girl talk to them so obviously they have girl problems.

I've never had a boyfriend and very few boys talked to me. Aside from the whole gay thing, do I have guy problems? No, they're just losers conforming to a stereotype of nerds.
