    Arrow Iraq......another Vietnam??

    Vietnam:
    years: 16
    US soldier Dead: 58,209
    US Solder wouned: 153,303
Civilians dead: 2 to four million

    Iraq:
years: 3 years so far and counting
    US soldier dead: 3,000+
    US soldier wounded: 20,700+
    Civilians dead: 50,000 t0 600,000.

Note that we practically lost the Vietnam war. And it looks like The Iraq war is nowhere near ending. The opponent whom we all know has a will of steel.
Some soldiers also have noted the steadily increasing body count of US soldiers. this month(October 1-19), so far 71 US soldiers have died.

We are now caught in a dilema, if we pull out without accomplishing anything, we will be the butt of jokes of both Extremists and the world. And we definitely can't let the terrorists think they have won.

The only statistic that matters to me:
    US soldier dead: 3,000+

Remember this number. There were minor battles in other wars we have been in with more dead. I hate to sound callous, but 3,000 dead is a mere drop in the bucket. The Iraqi war is nothing like Vietnam. The media has been making it out to be more than it is. 71 dead? More died in a single day in WWII or the Vietnam war.

Also, I am hesitant to say the Vietnam war lasted 16 years. In my mind, the real fighting only lasted from 1965-1975, 10 years, not 16, and most of those latter years had no real fighting in them.

more died in a single day in WWII, Vietnam, or the American Civil War than all of the casualties in this "war" combined.

Look do you guys actually think that the Islamic extremists will give up??? this is the same people that strapped themselves with explosive and go blow up people and taking down buildings. DO you think that they will give up?? I see this war as going on for another 10 years or more.

And thankfully, by then we will have pulled out.

Besides, if they get too annoying, we could always just nuke the whole country. =p(kidding, for the people with no sense of humor)

casualties don't really matter here, the problem is that this is a war that can't be won.

big fucking deal. we'll be pulled out long before that. fuck iraq. fuck the entire middle east. It's just one big worthless desert of hate, mental retardation, and combatitiveness. let's just nuke the goddamn place. the only thing valuable there is the Oil, and we can get that after we nuked them.

Personally, though I am a Republican/Conservative(I really am a conservative, if I have to vote with a different party to stay true to my ideals, that's fine with me[you know, I hate the Republican Party, they started the War of Northern Agression afterall], but for now, our ideals align), I am a isolationist.

Trade with other countries? Fine. Hold talks, ect. ect.? Fine. Get involved militarily, be the "police of the wor;d," step in on every little conflict? I am dead set against that. George Washinton was right when he warned of "entangling alliances" with foreign powers. Pull back all our troops in other countries, and let them sort out their own problems, they are filled with intelligent people as well, and can work things out on their own.

While watching the news yesterday they showed a scene of US soldiers on patrol inside a city, and as they were passing buildings there would be someone on the roof waving a stick with a rag tied to the end to let others know where the soldiers were. The soldiers with the tv news crew along with them just continued on down the street. People are marking your position for a possible ambush or sniper attack, but you don't respond. Perhaps because you know that if you do respond you will find that someone told a kid to stand on the roof and do this because they knew the soldiers wouldn't attack unarmed children.

It's not easy for the US to win this kind of war. If Saddam was running things, he could. But then the tactics he would use to win would be labeled as barbaric, but nevertheless they would be very effective at eliminating foreign insurgents and pacifying the population in Iraq.

I always was fond of the tactic the British used when they were in the Middle East. They dipped their bullets in pig blood(unclean to Muslims), and killed captured terrorists by firing squad, and buried all terrorists they found(those killed by firing squad and those not) in pig blood and entrails. Nipped the attacks in the bud, with the message, "You attack our people, you go to hell."
