this was used in the Afghan war:
According to an Australian TV report, the United States applied psychological pressure to force enemy Taliban fighters out into the open. The report stated that members of the 173d Airborne Brigade burned Taliban bodies for hygienic reasons.
A psychological operations soldier, Sgt. Jim Baker was recorded reading out a message to the Taliban:
"Attention, Taliban, you are all cowardly dogs. You allowed your fighters to be laid down facing west and burned. You are too scared to retrieve their bodies. This just proves you are the lady boys we always believed you to be."
Another soldier reportedly broadcast statements such as:
"You attack and run away like women. You call yourself Talibs but you are a disgrace to the Muslim religion and you bring shame upon your family. Come and fight like men instead of the cowardly dogs you are."
According to a Japan Today report, U. S. authorities are investigating the incident to determine whether the troops' efforts may have contravened the Geneva convention.
Also the Vietnam war started with little casualties too but then it escalated. As to point out what Jakko said about entangling alliances. That's how the Vietnam war started with The Frenchies and we ended with way more casualties. This Iraq war could last forever, that's how persistent those people are. They don't called them extremists for nothing.
the war will end, and USA will be the victor, they will go on conquering, untill the muslim people around the world will be pissed off and they will hold no tongue.
then starts the beginning of the end, world war 3 a war on religion, blood will pour through the land like an endless rain, and their will be no rest, untill...
...40 years before judgment day.
pitty not those who fight, pitty those who die on the wrong side.
Behold the King, the King of Kings!!!
....................................On yours knees dog!!!
it it's going to continue on like this, Iraq WILL become another Vietnam with no doubt...
Jesus God! Why the fucking US has to initialize all the bloody battles?
OMG!! Kill me now!!!
Actually the Marxists and Christians did far worse.

This is how I view IRAQ...
Effect: US must show some sort of retaliation or else we look weak. So, we pick on the state (Iraq) that seems to have the most "terrorists" and "weapons of mass destruction." US relies on fights for security and power issues.
Chain effect: No "weapons of mass destruction." All was a bluff. US must re-evaluate decision.
Chain effect 2: US doesn't like the bluff. US needs new excuse. US sees impoverished citizens. US appeals to moral issues. US wants to make a government with ideals similar to US. (aka "spread democracy") so a problem like this won't happen in the future. Sounds reasonable, eh?
Chain effect 3: Democracy is obviously gonna fail. New "democratic" society is already under US "tyranny" martial law. Too hard to adapt. US sees no way it will succeed as soon as US pulls out. Since we will obviously not be able to change the society... the best we can do is
1) minimize deaths by pulling out as soon as possible
2) leave with some form of satisfation to make everything "worthwhile." In this case, it's oil.
If the Iraqi people really wanted the US out of Iraq fast, all they needed to do was be on their best behavior for a short time. Thank the Americans for invading, pat them on the back and shake hands in friendship, then politely but persistently encourage them to get the hell out. If any Iraqi's were asked by Americans "Do you need any help with anything?" just answer "Oh, no thanks, I think we can handle things from here. You can run along back home now". Not having anything else better to do, the Americans decide it's time to go home and would have carried with them the warm fuzzy hug of gratitude from their new Iraqi friends. The end.
eff that. If some foreign power came and took MY country over, then told me how MY country should be run, there's no way i would sit and take it. I don't agree with Iraq's methods but I sure as hell agree with their reasons.
America had no need or right to just jump into Iraq to begin with. They couldn't find bin Laden (i think that's bs but w/e), so they decide to initiate an attack on Iraq, accusing them of "weapons of distruction" which they don't have, when america has got the same fuckin "weapons of mass destruction." What gives America the right to decide who is allowed to have weapons and who isn't. All the propaganda is killing me. Calling muslims terrorists then we go around and "instill terror" on people. shit, america is the real terrorists. If America wants to help the world they should get fuckin Pfizer outta Africa and get rid of aids. Instead of focusing on a country nobody gives a shit about, why don't they save a whole continent of people dying of aids every HOUR. Makes you glad to be called an american eh?

If you cut a country off from oil, you can really cripple the entire economy.
There's nothing that America will do to Africa. No state will forcefully ever help Africa eliminate AIDS. There's some places that have virtually remained untouched: Switzerland, Africa, Antartica, ect. That's because there's nothing of value there.
Countries are greedy. Because wars costs shitloads (human lives, resources, time, ect.) countries are nit-picky about choosing which to and not to fight. In the end, there's nothing of real worthy value to help Africa. There's only human satisfaction, which is not enough of a reason to rage war in Africa.
America has its limits. It cannot go and save every screwed up society. (Africa with AIDS, 3rd world countries, ect.)
