Default You have been given a magic potion...

that does one of two things:
instantly gives you mastery over a skill (must be a real world skill).
    OR
gives you the ability to change the outcome/circumstances of any one event in history.

Which one would you do? If you want, you can say both and give an answer for each, but prioritize them.

Does that mean that the event must have already occurred?

I'd like to change the outcome of World War One, change the event of American Revolution, change the outcome of the Battle of Osaka, or change the outcome of Perry's arrival in Tokyo Bay.

I'd change the course of history by preventing the invention of the internet.

You couldn't change just one thing in history without affecting the rest of it.

So I would choose mastery instead. I would want to master all languages. Lord knows that's the only way it could ever happen.

I don't see the point in changing history. So what if the Americans lost the American Revolution--- probably in like a 100 years after that they'll fight again. Eventually we'd get independence. Eventually somebody else would invent ____.

I'd chose mastery over a skill. Let's go with mastery of the medical field. Then I can save every life and cure every disease. Even the common cold. YAY!

Since history doesn't necessarily have to refer to past events, I would chose to prevent my death, which since it is a fluid event will prevent me from dying.

strangely, walkins point stands. You would still age, you just wouldnt die of it. You would be soooo decrepit.

I didnt originally intend it to be a change in future events though.

I'm hoping to be senile enough that I wouldn't care, though the cyborg idea is good too.

And if my death is constantly being prevented, eventually there'll have to be some event that keeps me alive outside of my original physical body.
