Thread: Anti-Americanism in Animes and Mangas ~reasons~???

I've been thinking about this for a while and I saw a blog which made me brought this up. How come there is so much Anti-Americanism in Animes and Mangas?? Is this a lingering feeling for what we did to japan(Hiroshima and Nagasaki) during WWII and the sanctions we put on them, we are practically occupying them with more than 50,000 soldiers stationnned there. we are practically their army. but don't they think about Pearl Harbor and the sucker punch they did(though well planned).

Animes:Gundam seed:we all know that Orb is Japan and Blue Cosmos and the atlantic federation represent the US.
Fafner in Azzure: UN represents the US and that Island(forgot its name) represent Japan.
**almost all animes: The Blonde woman who is for the most time is portrayed as a drunk, sexy and a slutty girl.
Ghost in the Shell: There is mention of Nuclear Bombing of Japanse city by none other than the American Empire(US). In there there is also a pact between the American Empire and Japan which is similar to the Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution in prohibiting Japan from both deploying its army overseas and possessing nuclear weapons. It also protrays the Us as an empire trying to conquer and dominate the world. The way how we(US) be demanding the UN to take action is also put in the anime.

Mangas: Sanctuary: Two guys are trying to shake Japan up and reinstate its army. Foreigners who try to come get a piece of the pie all get killed.
Hajime no Ippo: an Amrican was portrayed as a guy who likes to sleep with Japanese women and treating them badly. also the reaction of the Japanese in the manga bring about those questions too. And in the manga they were telling him to get out of their country.
Project Arms: Egrigori is the evil empire with its headquarters in USA and all the Keiths are blonde haired.

**there also plenty other mangas and animes which we have portrayed in a very bad way.


-To me it seems like a silent Propaganda. The japanese deeply inside are pissed that they are being occupated by the U.S(pretty much). and they can't kick us because having us on their side makes them being attacked by CHina almost, if not impossible. and us being in their Country and them not having and spending a lot of money on their defense is one of the reasons why their Economy is so large. China was really pissed that The new Prime Minister is planning to strenghten the relations with the U.S.

nah man, im just pointing out the anti-americanism in the animes/mangas. Haven't you also think about it? we are always portrayed as the evil empire.

Japanese people are xenophobic, I'm pretty sure that's basically all it is.
And they're equal opportunity racists too, though the stereotype is different for every skin color, race, gender, culture, etc.

Well, though I am a conservative, I think I should point out that many of our actions in the Middle East(pre 1970's) and Central and South America (pre-1990's) has been pretty evil-empirish. Plus, when you are the most powerful nation in the world, people tend to view that as a threat to themselves. After all, "To stand at the top of the world is to stand alone."

'cos the entire fucking world (with the possible exception of Israel) and I do mean all of it, hates America.

now i get why you responded that way. you aren't American. why you think no countries try to come and occupate a country in the American sea? that's because US is there. so it is safe to say that your ass is safe because of that.

And it's not Anti-American, it is always against the bigger and more powerful empire. Let's say that one day the UN becomes the most powerful, then it'll be the one that is going to be the target of this stuff.

do russians make movies about it?? this is for alsmost every animes that we are talking about. and it's not like all mangakas sit and drink together. and talk about their views.
Also do you realize with all the economic power(2nd in the world) that Japan has, it does not have Veto power??
