I just want to see a working rail-gun in action one day, the ones that are currently made either blow up after one use or have to be cleaned and maintained after each shot.

The one in the video is the .30cal version, I don't know if there is an explosive tipped .30cal, but I'm assuming that that was a mix of tracer and incendiary (i.e. it burns) amunition.Originally Posted by Talamare

The M61 can fire high explosive (HE) rounds at an incredible rate of 6000rpm (thats 100 rounds a second!) and the GAU-8/A fires HE but can also fire depleted uranium shells at a slower rate of 4200rpm (which is still pretty damn fast).
Trivia: The GAU-8 has seven barrels, not six as is commonly believed.

That'd be pretty painful... It most likely wouldn't kill you instanteously, you'd have holes but not death. But I guess you'd be going out with a woody, so it's fair enough....
