Yes, I've heard as much. Here in Finland we have a conscript army, so all sorts of people serve in the military. I must say that I prefer our system over a professional army.

... If americans had a conscript army, your average platoon would have something like 6 guns per person, 200 rounds a gun [Not counting increased needs for machinegunes] a massively eclectic assortment of guns ranging from Flechette shotguns, to T-Rex rifles, Uzis, Desert Eagles, and so on.

Not to mention the crazy bastards who'd dig up their stolen Nam SAWs and use them as something other than a field emplacement anti-armor machingun.

Ishman doesn't understand what a conscript army is, its not a bunch of inbread rednecks with guns, that would be a militia.

Really? While we have a little less variety in firearms over here we do have the ability to mobilize over half of the adult male population if need be and give every guy an assault rifle at the very least. Again, bring it.

No 98, I know what a conscript army is.

I also know that half the people conscripted would be white trash, ghetto gangsters, mexican thugs, etc., simply because there are MORE of them than there are middle class 'normal' people. Not to mention the rednecks that WOULD be conscripted.

And I'm betting every single one of those previously named groups would bring a small arsenal of weaponry, have said weaponry confiscated, finish BT, and then have said weaponry returned.

BTW ish, you speak of SAWs, SAW in my dictionary stands for Squad Automatic Weapon. And AFAIK, the only squad based machine guns used in Nam, were the BAR and the M60, neither of which are anti-armour weapons (that said, I will concede that .30 and 7.62 will penetrate soft skinned vehicles).

EDIT: It appears that the BAR also uses armour piercing rounds that will penetrate light armoured soft targets.

I classify them as AA weapons because they're just too damned powerful against Infantry.
