Oh boy...The Black Dahlia was good.

The critics got it wrong with this one. Brian DaPalma's The Black Dahlia is quite good; easily one of the year's best. I saw it last night and I'm still thinking about it. It's based on a book my James Ellroy, who also wrote L.A. Confidential, another excellent film. Most of you are probably familiar with the Black Dahlia case itself...the movie is not truly about the Black Dahlia, though. It's about two detectives and how the case affects them as they become increasingly obsessed. It's a neo-noir film, so if you've seen Chinatown you should have some idea of what to expect.

I highly recommend it, though I'm sure audience reactions will vary significantly. It's very good.

i hate when critics do this and there is also some idiots who follow what critics say and not actually go watch the movie. I personally think that some critics are paid to lay down their critics.
It's the same way they said Lucky # Slevin's rating was not high while I personally think it was a damn good movie. ANd i think it is the same thing with Black Dahlia.

I saw This Film Is Not Yet Rated at a film festival today...it's also quite good, and very funny.

Hmm...

I saw The Seventh Seal and L.A. Confidential on Friday, by the way. Both are good...I'd say they're the best films I've seen in a month or so.
