I'm usually a rap hater but Jay-Z is an exception. ;pQuote:

as long as this new cd isnt with any of my favourite rock bands i dont care
*cries at what happened to linkin park*
linkin park was bad even without jay-z. :p
i don't think artists should be able to retire..they never know when they will stop getting inspiration for new material.
If Jay-Z had announced he was retiring at a point when his career was fairing as badly as that of The Dixie Chicks, then it might have been permanent.
I don't like rap all too much either, but jay z has some pretty good songs.
Most obvious thing ever. Even on MTV when he was retiring they just assumed he'd be back in a few years. Probably improved record sales on the last album by the added publicity. People shouldn't say that their retiring if they are released the next cd just slight after what they would have if they hadn't retired.
it was probably for the publicity. his newer works will become "more precious" to his growing fanbase this way.
i think this point was previously stated..so sorry for the unoriginality
but it's kinda fucked up how he coming out a week after Nas releases his CD on Def Jam. I think him coming back is stupid. it's not like he needs money nor has something to prove. He is the President of Def Jam, him coming back will probably be a conflict of interest.
