Genesis 19: Sodom and Gomorrah

Genesis chapter 19 is concerned with the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by God. Genesis 19:4-8 (NASB) says:

"Before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter; and they called to Lot and said to him, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them." But Lot went out to them at the doorway, and shut the door behind him, and said, "Please, my brothers, do not act wickedly. "Now behold, I have two daughters who have not had relations with man; please let me bring them out to you, and do to them whatever you like; only do nothing to these men, inasmuch as they have come under the shelter of my roof." "

In the New Testament, Jude 1:7 (TNIV) says:

"In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion."


Leviticus 18 and 20
These chapters of Leviticus form part of the Holiness code. Leviticus 18:22 says:

"Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable."
and Leviticus 20:13 states:

"If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."


In the Epistle to the Romans 1:26-27 (TNIV), Paul writes

"Because of this [idolatry], God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error."

No one is denying that the Bible condemns homosexuality.

But not everyone believes in the Bible, so I believe that we as good Christians should accept our gay brothers and sisters.

Quoting the bible is asenine as it can not be proven as a factual text. Using that "evidence" in this thread will only get you flamed. The bible was written by a human being with a human bias, maybe the guy who wrote it hated gays? Maybe he was gay and was frustrated that other people were okay with it? Who the hell cares? All I know is that a person wrote the bible so there is no defnitive evidence that anything in that book is even remotely genuine.

I never would have expected you, of all people, Jakko, to say such a thing as "homosexuality being a social disorder", seeing as you suffer from ASD, an actual social disorder. As of now, I really do not care much for your bigoted, ignorant responses stating your blinded, close-mindedness on the subject of homosexuality. Although, some of you gave some pretty encouraging responses, informing me that although progress is a slow process, it is a definite process. Also, another thing that has come to my attention, which I so naively believed to be true, is that understanding and intelligence does not go, innately, hand in hand.

Actually, the bible is not written by one person. The bible is a work a of collective letters obtained from each of the Apostles, including others. Nevertheless, I agree with you, whereby the true feelings of God could have been misconstrued by the vile intentions of man.

I wasn't quoting the bible to bash homosexuals, i was quoting the Bible to say how long homosexuality has existed, It has been there for a long ass time. If it couldn't be gotten rid of then, what makes you think it could get ridden of now??
In Japan, During the Edo period, gays used to run rampant.
There are a whole bunch of records that has shown that it has existed since long before the Christ.
I don't hate gays, because hating them means that you are afraid of them and i'm not. Just don't bring it around me.
