China is trying to promote chinese animation, not cut off entertainment altogether. So no, they're not just doing it cuz WEST BAD EAST GOOD! It's a fairly smart move to expand their share in the industry. The next generation of kids in china will only know those cartoons and will invest in it. MONEYS!!

You can't possibly believe they have that single intention in mind when coming up with this kind of law. Think: propaganda, censorship, and etc.

don't worry. The citizens will still get their foreign shows.

Chinese people are master bootleggers. My friend went to China and came back with about 12 dvds.. (all bootlegged) of movies that were in theaters at that time.

Oh sure, there are always added bonuses and whatnot, but China isn't all that hardcore anymore. They don't even try to stop everything from coming through anymore. You can see it on any billboard.

I swear, it is better not to have anime at all then have it censored and edited to the point beyond recognition.
That's a different issue, They edit the Animes not because they are from a foreign country but they do it because the kids. I have never heard Our government or FCC banning Foreign products just because they are foreign. But on the other hand, we welcome competition.
Banning foreign product won't do the China any good because the quality of their product won't improve, the ban on the other hand will encourage the Chinese industry to put out garbage product.

Eventually there would be less Chinese visiting the manga/cartoon sites because they wouldn't know what they even are, and kids would be brainwashed to make their life from national boring cartoons. I feel real sorry for them;(
Clicky the jelly if you can read Japanese
