Thread: I want to start...

a betting pool for flames. Basically, we link to any thread that's going to erupt into flames here. We don't tell anyone in that thread ANYTHING about their involvement here. We give each flame thread some sort of name or Case number and we all choose sides and bet on them. Then we have specific people, called Gladiators, enter the thread and take sides.

If your side wins, you acquire points which you gamble. Everyone starts with 10, the goal is 100 and when you win, you gain 50% of what you bet. Theoretically, you can gain 5 points in the first game, 7.5 in the next, and so on. Points are rounded UP from .5 down from .4 and so on.

With 100 points, we will sort out some sort of reward. If you LOSE the bet you lose 100% of what you bet and recieve a minor penalty. If you end up with 0 points you are out of the game and recieve a major penalty of some kind. Minor penalties come in the form of 'punishment', where you choose which. Options are... A really small temporary ban starting when you want it and ending after the set time. A situation where you have to obey a single major command thought up by the winners, it can be fairly elaborate. And a set of restrictions you have to follow for a peroid of time.

Thoughts? Ideas? This whole thing can be heavily modified but I just want you to give your basic opinion on whether you like it and whether you'd participate. If you say you would, then offer any changes you think might benefit it.

I like it, but wont people now go randomly in to threads starting flame wars, or starting offensive threads.

well i really like the idea, sounds like fun...but like the guy above me said, it'd probably start needless flame threads. maybe once a way around that is found...

what do the points count up to? is it just the fact of winning...?

Do I get points if I get an opposite quit in the middle of a round?

Yeah I reckon it could be a bit of fun, but surely people will just instigate flamewars to win? And we don't need more of those! And yeah, if I join forces with Cooler, I'm pretty sure we could obliterate any opposition
