As my father loves to say: if you don't have luck you cannot win the world championship.
And it's not only in a match. It's in the team that you find during the way, it's a man on the line that stops the ball just in time.
France probably has played better than italy. But there were injustices to vindicate. See the european in holland where trezeguet scored in the extra time (f**k the golden gol), or the mondial in france where italy played much more better than france during the quarter (I think it's the right term, if not you can correct me), but we lost at the penalty.
As I have said, it's only revenge.

"Zinedine Zidane's agent says the France captain headbutted Marco Materazzi in Sunday's World Cup final because the Italian made a "very serious" comment."

Sources in France say it is believed Materazzi insulted Zidane's mother.

As I have said before it's impossible that Materazzi insulted Zidane's mother. He is orphan of mother and when someone said the thing to him... Well, his reputation of a fighter is not a fiction.

The Italians changed the way they play to mass offence. The French pratically completely lost control of the game. The only reason I think Zidane shouldn't have headbutted that guy was because of the pentality shoot out in the end, which really could have used his pentality shooting skill.

Whatever the reason Zidane wasn't at any position to headbutt Materazzi. It was his last game for god's sake! Better leave with some glory than with scandal... Now people will remember the closing of his career thinking about an unneeded agression that caused him to be thrown out of his last game. I bet it's not the first time he got a "serious commentary" or whatever... it was just childish. He didn't even recieve his 2nd place medal... He entered the field with pride and admiration, then left with shame and a red card pointing at his face. Wise choice!

I actually dont think that Zidane would have done any difference, because if he had shot, he wouldn't have done it instead of trezeguet, who was the only one that missed. Probably instead of Sagnol actually-

Damn right. At least, he should've waited until the end of the game to punch the guy.

I've seen Zidane play before and I would not have remembered him as one of the best player in the world. He "is" childish and not new to that kind of things. He has number but he has not the attitude of a great player. Ronaldinho is a great player. Roberto Baggio was. Pirlo is. Pele e Maradona (before the drug) were.
Zidane is too "bastard" to be a great player.
