If the prices for the originals weren't insanely high, I would probably buy them. I mean, Its not that I cant afford the originals, but my ETHICS are telling me not to buy them. Overpricing in my mind is a sin, and thats my justification for piracy.

I dont know if they have them in countries other than NZ, but in my countries movie theatres, they have 'stop piracy' ads before the movie starts (along with movie ads) and I noticed one in particular.
It went something like this: "Downloading of the internet for free is stealing. You wouldn't steal A TV......"

All the while im thinking in my mind "If A TV was this easy to steal I'd be a fucking rich TV dealer."

Piracy is the smarter way to do things.

Well, it's not smart when the publishers go bankrupt and then you'll have nothing to pirate.

    heres the thing
technically piracy shouldnt affect thier profits as in
if im listening to a song or playing a game that i wasnt going to purchase in the 1st place then how could it be a loss of profits

    That's just you.
Just imagine if everyone downloaded their songs, games, etc. and didn't buy anything.

And plus, here's another hypothetical situation for you: imagine if downloading never existed. Do you still think you "wouldn't buy the CD anyway"?

I probably still wouldnt, just have one of friends buy it and then rip it to my comp, not my loss.

probably still wouldnt but i know a few people that would

it truly isnt just me but a grand amount of people that thinks about the same but that grand amount would probably only be half(maybe less) of the piracy community

Before I downloaded my music I just borrowed from my friends and then ripped their CD (with them knowing of course.) Just like most people did/do.

I do not care for most e-books, songs, and games so I think piracy can be good or bad depending on the company. For smaller companies they will enforce their copyrights more rigidly and larger companies have more power.

I usually do not use pirated software and try to get the original if I can as long as the objects are not overpriced... $1000 for 1 software package...

I do not listen to songs... read actually paper books.. and get dvds of things that I will actually watch more than once...I may play the same game for a long time..such as Starcraft since it has been released.
(the Set is still only $19.99 at major retailers everywhere and sometimes I may see it for $7.99 or $9.99 at CC)
I still play tetris, mario, and zelda from the 80s.

Whenever the software is overpriced piracy will occur as others and that is where the many people who cannot afford these things will want them.
    Sleeping until 2999
