Default The Nervers of These Hypocrites!!!

Who made Anime even more Popular on a worldwide scale? We, us anime fans and Fansub Groups. Now guess what? now that their animes are in demand to be licensed, meaning they'll get more money, the Anime Studios are cracking down on Fansub-groups and tracing them. How is that for payback when we made their anime famous. Who would have known about Naruto, Bleach or any other anime and manga for expample had it not been for these same Fan-subbers?? nobody outside of Japan or Asia.

Well, this is a tough one. You must remember that the manga/anime involved is still owned by someone, and this someone does not want to have a source available that gives free manga, when they are selling it. Because that is not the way business works.

The point of fan subbers was always to get more ppl to know about the original artists works. So it could get to the point of a licensed. Most anime i watched came with a disclaimer saying, stop distribution when this is licensed in your area. Though they know most ppl won’t do this, some will because fan subs are still fans and should not be taking business away from the artist. You must remember fan subbing is still pirating (yarr). And ppl like Tazmo makes it worse by selling, products that do not belong to him.

But maybe the publication companies/Anime/Manga studios should not severely crack down on fansub groups but try to incorporate them in to the business
Dont ask me to spell anything!

And do we 'anime fans' outside of Japan support the industry? Do we purchase Region 2 DVDs of our favourite anime shows? Making it famous serves no real purpose if a series is unlicensed as they don't see a single dime from us. Now when a series is licensed, that is the chance for you to gain your title as an anime fan. Of course, it is expected of you to purchase the shows you download, since you are an anime fan.

Point is, if a series is famous outside of Japan yet has no distributor, the status of being famous is pointless as it doesn't help the industry. Of course, if you're looking for someone to blame as to why distributors are throwing out those C&D's, well we can blame the asshats who made the show popular or famous outside of Japan. After all, if it weren't famous, it wouldn't catch the eye of the Distributer, and as such, it doesn't get licensed. Which means you can have your subs.

Yay for you, you big 'anime fan' you.

My one point of disagreement is the quality. I don't see why I should buy a manga if the translation is so far off from the original that it's not even the original story. They shouldn't expect you to buy THAT.

On the other hand, I will admit I buy anime. ^_^ Because it's cool. And because I got some of them on sale.

i refuse to buy anime because its ridiculously overpriced and the quality is so shitty it makes me feel as if i lit a fart on fire and just burned the money.

example FLCL is my favorite show, in chinatown i can get it unlicensed and all six episodes english/japanese subs and dubs (which are very good) for ten dollars on one DVD.

in the say .... Virgin Megastore i can get TWO EPISODES on one DVD for 25 dollars with the same quality (thank god)...

now basic logic says hmmm.... 75 dollars and 3 dvds or 10 dollars and one DVD of equal or greater quality... such a tough decision...

Licensers have explicitly said they only want to stop fansubbing because it doesnt make them any money. which is the same reason why theyll put 3 episodes of a show on one dvd when the show is fucking 200 episodes long!!! and then price the bastardization at fucking 20 or 25 or even THIRTY dollars just to MILK our fucking wallets DRY!!! who thehell wants 50 something DVDs of ONE show.

dont get me wrong... i had the unfortunate task of wanting to support a show FullMetal Panic and i bought licensed DVDs from Best buy at 20 dollars pop and the entire show on 7 DVDs costing me about 160 (cuzza tax)... im still missing a DVD cuz it wasnt out on shelves and when i went to chinatown and saw the entire thing on 3 dvds for 40 bucks i wanted to shoot myself...

ladies and gentlemen... Fansubbers keep people like me from killing people in the licensing industry... if they leave heads are gonna roll.

    Im an indonesian.
in my country, there are actuallyu NO LICENSING AT ALL FOR ANIME. If i want to watch anime, lets say naruto. if i buy the cd(contains 2 episode), it will cost me rp.6000 (us$60cent)

IF I BUY DVD it will cost me rp.50000 (us$5) THE DVD CONTAINS 50 NARUTO EPISODES!!!! (RMVB FORMAT)

BUT SAD SAD SAD ME! IM CURRENTLY STUDYING IN SINGAPORE RIGHT NOW... AND THE PRICE OF LICENSED ANIME IS AS EXPENSIVE AS IN THE US

ALL THE MORE REASON TO USE BT!!!

OH YEAH, btw a manga in indonesia cost rp11000 (us$1.10) but in singapore they can cost up to sing$7 for the same manga!!!

Wow. We have DVDs of anime that are like... $45 for one DVD here. Regular DVD. I mean, I'm fine with buying a DVD for $20-25 when I have gift certificates, or if I'm missing one (Ranma 1/2...), but I'm not spending that much. It's ridiculous. (But I did get fifteen Ranma DVDs for $2.50 US each... and that was worth it. ^_^)

Manga is the same way. I buy most of mine in the US because they're very overpriced here in Canada. I don't see how they expect us to live with unfair pricing - and I'm really not just talking about the original prices. I mean, I can live with eight dollars, but not sixteen. (American price for Viz manga, Canadian price for Del Rey manga... yeah.)

Until I see the Japanese manga, that is... where I can get them for almost twice as much as the original price, but still $6 per volume. =P I'm not starting any new manga series in English anymore because of that.

agreed with akofc (i love when he is serious ), but what said SD is really true too...
if the licensers made worse subing than fansubers, and it happens often, then fuck that i won't buy it (especially for 3 episodes on a dvd, multiplied by 40 dvds, 20 euros each lol)
idem for the bad dubing, especially when there is ONLY the dub on the dvd >.>

so yeah, with all thatcrap, i have only some ghibli collector movies and the azumanga daioh anime (it was expensive, but at least well done and in a nice outlet )

edit : i asked that a long time ago and nobody answered, but is there a website/forum somewhere that critisize the translated manga ?? (like the one against US version of tenjo tenge, but with more manga in it)
i'd like to be sure the manga is well done before buying it ^^ (and can't read japanese)
if the site references french version of manga, it is even better

huh. i think, if all licencer (all media! not only anime) cooperate with media pirate in indonesia, i think they can reuce the price to one fourth of the original and still make more money! GO INDONESIAN PIRACY!!

BTW one movie dvd in indonesia only cost us$50cent
