Thread: Pictures as Posts

With the activity of some members (especially Panda) we've seen the rise of pictures replacing words in threads. Often, a sentence doesn't even accompany the image - the picture is all that is necessary.

So what do you think of this? Should these pictures be allowed when they can cause the same problems that forced us to change sig size, but are often larger in height? Or should we keep them, but with restrictions? Or should we just let people use stupid (*ahem*) pictures as much as they please?

Yeah, just want to hear your opinions on this. ^_^

I think that as long as it is funny and not overused, it's ok.

But if everybody and their mama starts doing it because they think it'll earn them net cred, then we should do away with it altogether.

I think AK and AB will have problem with this, since they like to post with pictures.

Well, personally I have no problem with it most of the time, however, it is against the rules, at least as I see them.

12. Don't quote pictures. It's redundant and it makes posts unneccessarily huge.

Even though I don't see anything wrong with the majority(though not all) of the picture posts, the fact that this has been listed in the rules for months and that those individuals have either not bothered to read them, or have disregarded them, makes me think that they should stop now or face bans. Really, it was too much over a month ago, and, though i find most of them funny, even appropriate in some situations, it seems to be getting out of hand now.
Anyway, that is just my opinion, and I am sure many will disagree with me. Sorry.
Also, this rule seems a little vague. While at first glance it may seem that it is just talking quoting someone and including a picture they made, it seems to me that making your entire post a picture made by someone else on the internet is a quote of them, and it also seems to break rule 7 a and c:

7. Don't make useless posts. They will be deleted. ( smilies and less than 4 words long). Only in rare instances, ie when they are funny or don't suck will they not be deleted.
Addendum: Useless posts involve the following
a. almost always small posts of 4 words or less
b. Repeated Smiley posts
c. Redundant posts.

Anyway, the gist of what I am saying is that I think that the picture only posts should stop, except in rare circumstances. Just my opinion.

I don't mind threads that focus around a picture. I'm mostly thinking of those "You are a fag" and "n00b" pictures that seem to pop up in flames. They're kinda.... pointless, and they usually get quoted if someone finds them funny.

Speaking of which, why DON'T people get banned for quoting pictures?

No the picture thing is useless and dumb. So far only dumb people use them, and there not really funny, just sad how you take up time just to come up with an insult involving a pic, let alone over the internet where it's basically impossible to hurt feelings. The whole idea is stupid.
